so i was on my way to a friends house and as i pulled up to her drive way i went to shift into first( her driveway is STEEP) and i wouldn't go into gear so i thought why not roll down the hill and try again...nothing. so she called AAA and got me towed home. as soon as i got home the car was drivable. I took it around the block no problem. next day I'm driving down the street and went to shift into third and the clutch felt really hard and then went straight to the floor. it goes into gear when its off but not when running, and if you try reverse while its on it grinds horribly....one of my buddies said that's what happened to him before his 2G crank walked  but I just hit 100,000 miles i thought i was safe...and it is possible it might be the original clutch... any help would be great thanks for reading this long ass post :dsm:

Sounds like it could be a master or slave cylinder going bad, in any case your clutch is not disengaging properly which usually isn't due to a worn clutch: usually when a clutch gets worn in starts slipping and won't fully engage. Check for fluid leaking around the master and slave, pull back the rubber boot on the slave and look at the piston for fluids.

Could also be a cracked clutch fork.

i already checked the slave and master cylinders, sorry i didn't mention that. what would i have to do if it is a cracked clutch fork?? replace it or the whole clutch?

Ok:

1. You are never safe from crankwalk just because you hit 100,000 miles, LOL. It's not like the motor becomes immune to wear and tear that can cause a crank to develop too much play. It usually occurs between 80,000 to 100,000 miles, but it can always occur, and crank walk isn't unique to DSMs, DSMs are more prone, but all FWDs are prone to this issue, especially manuals where the clutch is constantly placing pressure on the crank via the flywheel.

2. You can replace just the fork if you need to.

3. Mine did something similar to crank walk, I knew for sure I had the evil CW when cut the wheel all the way left, pressed the clutch in and released and the clutch didn't come back off the floor, had to basically be pried off with my foot.

4. If it's not the cylinders, sounds like the fork, so don't go all Johnny emo yet, crankwalk is still a rare occurence.

and it happened when i was turning right onto a street. does that even matter??

I wouldn't jump into crankwalk yet. How did you check your master cylinder and slave cylinder? Did you check to see if the slave cylinder was moving the clutch fork back and forth? And just because the clutch fork moves doesn't mean that it can't be bent.

Also your crank sensor might have already died if it was crankwalk because that sensor is located at the base of the crankshaft itself. The best way to check for this is take the transmission off, check the end play and see if there are any issues with the clutch itself or flywheel. If your flywheel is cracked or uneven you will definitely have some major clutch issues/shifting problems.

I wouldn't say crankwalk either just cause the clutch pedal dropped. That happened to mine when I was coasting to a stop going straight. I changed both clutch master and slave, it ended up being the master, it was leaking fluid.

well now that i got it to actually go into gear while its on. i can hear a noise coming form the transmission side of the engine while i release the clutch to start moving forward... it sounds to me like the clutch isn't disengaging all the way. i ordered i new clutch kit so i should be mobile by this weekend... wish me luck
