I need to adjust my clutch and I remember reading a page about it on vfaq.com but when I clicked on it this time it said that page had expired or something like that. I remember it was real simple, I just forget the basics of it. Anybody have another link that would work, or a link that shows you how to adjust it. Thanks.

Just loosen the 12mm nut on the master cylinder shaft above the gas pedal and turn it with a vice grips. Gonna take a while to get it to go anywhere since it only makes about 1/4 turn at a time.

You remember which way you turn to adjust it to raise? In my case, I need to lift it off the floor, since it engages way too low.

just watch the pedal while you are turning it. You will see it moving up or down. Turn it to the left though.

I went to adjust the clutch and when I turned the 12mm bolt (pictured with the arrow pointing to it) it just got tight. Nothing was adjusted. I could also turn it the other way, but it just loosened and spun freely. What am I doing wrong?

I guess you did the same thing that I did the first time. So I guess you figured out that the nut is to lock it and the rod has to be turned to adjust it.

Sorry to bring a dead thread back to life--
Hey guys,
I can not get my clutch to grab any lower it is basically right at the top of the pedal. I have adjusted it numerous times, the only thing that changes is the length of the pedal not where it actually engages. I have tried adjusting both the cruise control switch and the rod itself.
Just to throw it out there I just replaced my mc. thanks guys.
