I've been trying to source were my clunking noise is comming from on my gst. Whenever I hit a bump at low speed I hear one or 2 quick "clunk, clunk" sounds comming from the right side. Also I hear it when I let out of the clutch during shifting. I've looked over my front suspension 3 times and also had 2 other mechanics check it out and everything is tight. I even removed the control arms to 100% certain the ball joints had no play. I made sure the motor mounts weren't ripped and the steering rack was tight. Could my subframe be loose? I did see a small amount of movement when I pryed up on it but it looks more like it is just the rubber compressing a bit instead of being loose.

I checked those when I replaced the sway bar bushings. Tonight I decided to do a burnout which I rarely do and it clunked twice loud as well when the tires broke traction. It sounded like something was smacking under the car and I could feel it in the wheel too. This sounds like bad cv axles to me but they were tight when I shook them. Any ideas anyone?? I'm about to go nuts over this

Lift the car on jack stands ... and pry around with your pry bar. You will figure it out, suspensions are hard to diagnose over paper ... we cant hear the sounds or see how big the bumps are ....

I've had the car on stands twice. Today completely removed the links to check as suggested. I also re-torqued the subframe bolts, front crossmember, and top strut bolts. My theory now is that the RF strut is shot and not keeping the tire planted during a launch which is causing the spring to knock around in the perch.

My right front strut was blown but I replaced the link at the same time I replaced the strut.

My link looked fine but when I took it off you could easily move and rotate the bad link with just your fingers, the new one you had to put your body weight against it to even get the bolt to move a little in either direction

It is probably both of them making the noise since they are both mounted on the strut fork.

Try power braking it and have someone standing over the engine bay listening. Also try bouncing the front end up and down with your weight to duplicate going over bumps.

*** Fixed*** Today i found my issue is my right lower curved control arm. I found it by putting a long wrench on the bottom caliper bolt and attempting to tighten it. This twisting force on the knuckle was the only way I could get the ball joint to show any looseness. Thanks to everyone for the help!
