When I received my package today from what I thought was a reputable seller on ebay I noticed grooves on the side of the 2 largest bearings, 2 grooves on each side, total of 4 on each. I wasn't expecting this, I've never seen new mains before, I'm doing my first build. Is this normal? If not are they still useable? I included this link that shows the grooves. :notgood:

Also, shouldn't I have 10 bearings?? The package only has 9. As shown in the picture. Thanks. Scott.

Those grooves are normal for both parts of the thrust bearing.

There should be 10 main bearings, 2 thrust bearings, and 8 other main bearings.

I thought their was suppose to be 10. It was discribed as:

This auction is for a "set" of CLEVITE Main bearings # MS2043P STD

I'll give them a call Monday and see what they will do for me. I'm glad I used paypal.
Curriously, what are the goves for? Does that indicate they are used?

Well at $26 on eBay and $59 on slowboy, I can see why you went there. For things like this however, I chose to go with a reputable source to avoid any major problems. You should be able to get something worked out, good luck!
