Clearing Boost Creep!!!

hey guys, so i have a ported EvoIII/B16g Turbo w/ 34mm flapper, ported exhaust manifold, ported o2 housing, - - - i still get this massive boost creep problem . . . i have a 3" apex-i N1 all the way back (no cat) i just ordered an o2 dump from punishment racing, and was wondering if i would get anymore creep . . . ? its ported to 2.5" . . . bye bye boost creep ??? (its controlled by a Greddy Profec B spec II)

I think someone sells a little device that attaches to the wastegate and make it open more fully. The flapper is bigger but it's still not opening enough to expel enough gas to keep the turbo from creeping. I have yet to try it and waiting for more reviews about it... I think his screen names started with a p like pickens or something..

I'm in the same boat as you. I even have a slow boy racing ported 2G O2 houseing with the divider mild down and I still creep bad...it's really cold there though lately. Can try that think above in the link...let me know if it works.

you can say that again . . . i had them port my exhaust manifold o2 housing and turbo . . . still crept - - - hopefully this o2 dump will ease all boost outbreak . . . ill keep you posted and if there are anymore suggestions or comments - - - lets hear em'

I've heard of people running open dumps still creeping because it powers the back pressure behind the turbine so it flows more causing the turbine to spin faster but what do I know...don't have one...I'm thinking of that little mod though that goes on the wastegate flapper arm.

Did they port your turbo to the point where they removed the divider between the wastegate passage and the turbine outlet?

thats the easiest solution... im not saying you cant get rid of it with porting and stuff bu its prolly of equal or lesser value allot easier and more efficient then all that trouble your going threw with porting and stuff.....

ow ya and if you mount it on the o2 housing and have an external dump itll sound really cool to.... and loud scare the crap outta all the ricers when you hit ful boost...

Two areas you need to pay more attention to when porting the turbine housing due to creep,

1. The turbine inlet needs to be ported so you can see the wastgate exit clearly when looking strght down at the inlet, this will allow a easier path.

2. The area behind the wastgate arm needs to be ported so the door will open till it's parallel to the flow, match the gasket and the o2 side.

The reason sometimes a dump tube and bigger flapper doesn't work is because they only cover the wastgate path exit but not the entrance. Hope that helped.

Exactly, the entrance is the most important part. I have been running a ported 16g w/ 34mm flapper and a full 3" exhaust with no cat. I have run as low as 12 psi before with no creep. Port it right and you won't have problems.
