Clear Tails Tail Lights Taillights [Merged]

Just paint the turn signal white and leave the lower portion red. The rewire the taillights so that the turn signal is in the red part. Closest you're going to get to all clear cause they aren't made. I've made custom clear taillights and corners before with the office lighting material and plexiglass before but the bend in the 1Gb taillights is too great for it to work even if heated.

Just wondering if this looks any good, and more so do the clear tails look better with the clear center as well or with the center painted. I guess I haven't seen alot of red cars with clear tails, so I would like to know alittle better what that combo looks like...thnx. :dsm:

I say, Keep your stock outer lenses... carbon fiber middle piece... carbon fiber hood :thumb: would go nicely with your wheels...

I was wondering if I should put clear ones on my red 1g but then I saw the carbon fiber tails and was wondering if I should put those on or keep the stockers. I'm repainting my car very soon, Kandy Red. I'm trying to make my 1g look clean, not too ricey. I've decided to keep my stockers, just because I hink they look cleaner.

I am a firm believer of the painted center light. If you are going to do anything other than stock you should paint the center to match the car. You can NOT fail with a matching center light.

I will paint the center piece to match the car, but I think I am going to go with clear outer parts, not the altezza, but the clear ones.

Those clear ones are really hard to find nowaday... but i think they will look pretty good on the red.

I just bought a set of clears off of ebay, and they are on there, way just wondering what they will look like. Another idea is to get a carbon fiber center piece to go with the clears..that might look good...

when i originaly bought my clear tails, one the company sent me the wrong ones and they sent me a carbon center piece, and two refused to take anything back or send me the right ones, but i put them all on the clears with the carbon center.... imo it looked like total a$$ the center didnt last a day on my car b4 i went back to stock. kept the clears on though till a garage broke them on me, A$$holes

Hmm not sure if I like the clear center with the clear outers...just not sure what to do with that center piece...
clear sides, center painted to match the body color. Thats the best way.
Yea for 50-100 more than what it will cost you to do it yourself. You can get the paint you need in spray form from the dealership, Walmart, and or Meijers. Just get some primer, paint, and some clear and do it yourself for around $10- $15. :thumb:

I think i will do it myself (in the shade of course), but let me get this straight:

1) put tape around area that will not be painted so no unnecesary painting will be done
2) put a coat of prime and let it sit for how long?
3) put 2-3 Coats of northstar white aka w12 (umm my car is white so i guess it depends on ure car :p ) and let it dry for how long?
4) put (how many coats?) of clear coat on to make it all shinny and purty  and let it dry for how long??? Hopefully it dosent rain cuz that would be :thumbdown

So hows that? LOL

How I did mine:

1) Removed the center piece from the car.
2) Taped off reverse lights. (yours are in the bumper cover I think)
3) Put 2-3 light coats of primer, letting primer dry before repeating. (use light coats to avoid runs)
4) When primer dries, Check surface to ensure that there isn't anything in the primer.
5) Apply paint using same steps as primer.
6) Wetsand w/1500grit or finer. This is optional.
7) Apply clearcoat, I used 3-4 coats of it on mine. Also, before I put on cc I made sure that the paint dried overnight.

This is pretty detailed, but I wanted to make sure that the paint looked good. I'm pretty picky about things.

Good luck with this, it's a very nice mod to do.

the center that they sent me was carbon fiber inside with 2 clear lenses in the middle with red rims around the clear circles. like i said looked like A$$ LOL

Until I get that center part painted do you guys think it look stupid to have the stock center with the clear outers? I just dont like the all clear on the back look...what I mean is does this look stupid?

They're extremely rare since no one makes 'em anymore. Best bet is to search eBay and sometimes they're in the classifieds also.
