Those are tight, thanks bro I've been lookin for tails! You're my new hero!ROFL

on the black car...not so good, i think it might look better on a white car

but looks nice none the less

Yeah and if you do, expensive, last set I saw on ebay went for 400 bucks! I kinda wish I didn't give mine away, but they weren't in that good of condition... so oh well.

Those lights have been discontinued for a long time already. I remember when they were popular during the mid to late 90s. They were easily discontinued because they look like they are just big reverse lights. Definitely not DOT approved, and its a requirement now I believe or else they are not legal to be sold.

Obviously the replacement for these were the altezza lights which added actual red in to the tails to distinguish them to be proper lights/brake lights, and not just a huge reverse light.

yea i've no complaints with the law or inspection with them, i had to spend some time searching for some VERY red bulbs, and paid a decent amount for them as well.

i guess everyone is slack here in NC.

But hey if my turbo blows i guess i know where i can get the money to fix it. LOL.

when I had mine, I was about to convert the light sockets to use ford bulbs, cause there's a Mercury SUV that has clear tails and red bulbs... So those bulbs must be good... ya know? The bulbs you get from Pep Boys, they just fade away and turn orange and when you first install them, they are pink! So thats one of the main reasons I took mine off...

Could try red LED "bulbs".

There's only like one set of LED bulbs you can use that work right... The ones you get at pep boys... dont get brighter or anything, just turn on 3-6 more LED's at the same lumens. There are a few kinds of LED bulbs that have bulbs pointing towards the inside of the tail light, so that the light will reflect as if it were a regular bulb... and ususaly they work great at getting brighter.

Or, you can rip the tail light apart, and install an 1156 (I belive thats the right bulb we use) LED Cluster... which you can get different sizes.... some the size of CD's... some the size of Mini CD's... that will have a full cluster of LED's... these are what bikers use....

damn i forgot what kind of bulbs i put in there (it was 2 years ago) but they were special ordered and they shine red, the ones that where in it when i got it where a clear bulb with a red rubber thing over it, wtf.

LOL the heat had faded it back to white by the time i got it.

Those will get you a ticket. It need to reflect red somewhere. I said reflect.. not light up red.

Not entirely correct.

OP, SEARCH DAMNIT! There's rules on DSMTuners and it seems not one single person reads them. The old Clear tails were discontinued because DOT would not approve them because they did not have any Red Reflectors. Which is why the people that do have them, usually paint the reflectors red. As for getting a ticket, it all matters on the way you install them and the cop. I had them on my car, never once got a ticket, I even asked a cop. A big problem with them tho, is all the easy access red bulbs, are cheap pieces of crap. They chip and fade very easily turning into a very bright ugly orange/pink bulb. If you want the right kind of bulb, I suggest searching Google for websites that sell red bulbs and led clusters for Bikes. Yes bikes. They have the red bulbs that reflect an exact red color, and light up an exact red color, and don't fade. They are kinda pricey tho. 5 bucks a peice and you need 6 of them unless you have a talon or EDM Tail Conversion like I do.

You can use LED clusters also, but alot of the cheap ones don't do crap! I had them in my Fiero and they just lit up another set of LEDs at the same brightness which didn't show shit. There are some big 3" Clusters that bikers use to convert thier regular tails to LED's, they should be very helpful. But would not give off any red glow.

The picture attached shows those old Clear Tails with 4 Red bulbs from Pep Boys (the crap you don't want cause they fade) and 2 Silverstar Signal Bulbs for the signals (EDM Tail Conversion)

Not all clear, there are red reflectors. And red bulbs.

Another rule is "no smart ass replies". You're a bit too aggressive on the boards. How do you know the OP didn't search? Stop attacking- just answer. We're all here for fun.

And just to keep it on topic...

...yes, your tails need to be red with or without lighting involved.

Because, if you would have read my damn post, you would have seen that I posted the search results for anything involving "Clear Tail". There were hundreds of results. There would have been no need to create another post. A bit too aggressive? I am who I am, everyone knows this.

If I didn't say it, a moderator would have, or someone else. :nono::toobad:

How the hell is that a smart ass comment? He was only correcting someone. It's called help if anything..
