No bodykits in my opinion. 97-99 conversion is the best way to make your eclipse look good. All the body lines flow nicely, and the stock pieces are more durable than fiberglass. You can slam the shit out of it, and the bumper wont be dragging on the ground, and you can keep 17's on it. Because once you get a bodykit, your car looks all big, so you need big wheels to go with it.. If you want to have more than the 97-99 conversion, then put a lip on it.

The reason people say "clean" is because that's all you need to make your car look good. As long as its clean, it looks good. So many people spend so much time and money getting crazy bodykits, and crazy paint jobs, then by the time they are finished their car looks like it belongs in a circus. Then there's another group of people that decide they want a bodykit so they throw down the cash and then realize its really expensive to get all that stuff painted. So then they drive around with a primered bodykit, when stock looked better/"cleaner" in the first place. Then they finally save up enough for a half ass paint job, but unfortunately the factory paint looks better. So they could have saved a lot of hassle again, by keeping stock and having a "cleaner ride". They actually could have saved all that money and spent it on something like a turbo, or susupension, or at least a nice set of wheels. Alot of people get lost in aftermarket world, and they want everything that isn't stock. Then they spend all this extra money for stuff that alot of times isn't as good as factory stuff. Just upgrade some basic stuff, lower it, and put some wheels on it. Its about having a little bit of everything. Looks, speed, and handling.

You'll notice that most people with bodykits are the people that have non-turbo eclipses. Which they have no real reason to want to go fast because they might as well of bought a turbo eclipse in the first place. So they focus on bodykits and big wheels. :|

um did you forget the group of people who have their kits painted that match their car, have a good looking kit and still keeping it clean? i think my car is a good example of it. and unlike some people on this board, some people try to be a little bit different by NOT having the everyday, same look, sotck 2g lowered with rims. that look is awesome, but after i see everyones car like that, its due for something a little different. and having a turbo car is a NON-ISSUE about haivng a clean look. asshat.

ah shit, alright guys lets knock the whole turbo vs n/t bull shit off right now before this thread gets closed. Let's actaully help the original poster instead of arguing a stupid point that has not advantage of winning.

I'm sorry if my opinion upset some of you. The topic is about cleanest ride, which in my opinion can be a turbo or non turbo. That doesn't matter. The point is that no matter what kind of eclipse you drive, in my opinion the stock body parts, (97-99), look the best.

A lot of people in this thread were replying saying stock body looks the best, and then all the N/T's jump in and say that bodykits are the way to go. And its just funny that the guys that want to go fast buy the turbos, and the guys that just want to look good buy the non-turbos. The turbo guys tend to keep it stock and the NT's tend to do a lot of body modifications. Just a correlation that I noticed, maybe i'm wrong.

I'm just trying to save you guys a lot of grief, I'm saying keep your stock shit, and do some basic upgrades, you dont have to have a 2000 dollar body kit and 20 inch chrome wheels. Actually I used to have a bodykit and crazy graphics, and now i'm back to stock and I think it looks way better. Just my 2 cents.

Oh and you guys doing all the name calling need to :shhh:

yet again, your post is irrevelavant. its has nothing to do with turbo or not, its about the LOOK, not turbo or speed. so saying something like "all n/ts get kits and all tubos keep stock is a statement NOT intended for this post. i think everyone agrees that the stock 97-99 body is easily one of the best looking bodys ever made. it looks amazing with a nice set of rims and a lowered stance, however, having a bodykit doesnt make the car "un-clean" or ugly IMO. i agree that most of the kits out for the 2g completely ruin and destroy the nautral lines of the car, however, there are some kits i real like, such as mine - drift, or the evo, street fighter, and yes the blitz is a clean look, however overly played out. so adding a bodykit and still having a clean car is harder to do then just lower a stock 97-99 body style and call it a day, but dont mind me, im just some N/T ricer :p

for you to say "all n/t's say do a body kit" is ####ed, I am an n/t with no asperations of a lame ass bodykit, STFU. End of story
and yes you are wrong about the majority of n/t's being into body mods :thumbdown

attn: tunerkid and whoever else that was arguing. Whore up someone else's thread. I don't care about your kit vs. stock argument.

Lets just look at some clean cars. Dont need 8, I like that. I am normally not a fan of that lip but I think it goes well with your side skirts.. To bad you have to keep that front plate on. I really don't think we should be forced to sport it.

Tuner kid, obviously you can't read, because the topic was about cleanest ride, and my statement said, "which in my opinion, can be a turbo OR NON-TURBO" with "stock 97-99 body). It's also obvious you can't spell...its i-r-r-e-l-e-v-a-n-t. So next time your going to try to bash on some one get your shit straight. Also it was just my opinion about the stock body. If you like bodykits then fine, go for it, I admit the evo front is nice, and I used to have the street fighter, but when it comes down to it, i like the stock stuff. Call your self a ricer all you want I wont take pity on you.

as far as the N/T vs. turbo thingy....i dont understand why people argue so much about that, and eclipse is an eclipse end of story. seriously, we were soooo close to just having an N/T...which was completely fine because 95% of the time we dont plan on going mach 20...its all about the appearance, stop busting peoples balls about it, because either A)they didnt have enough to buy a turbo/insurance was to much or B)it wasnt a huge preference for them/maybe couldnt find one...maybe talkin shit bout honda guys or something but god, that is all i ever see on the site...ill try to look for something, it will just be a N/T bash left and right, all these forums and shit get locked up moderaters get pissed off, i dont care if is MOSTLY a turbo board or w/e you guys think it is....i still look at it as a DSM board, and as for body kits...they are not on my top list of things to do, i mean not on my list at all, but if you look on the 2nd page of this thread i posted a kitted car which i really like, some people prefer it, like my bestfriend, and some peoples looks really good. You shouldnt be like oh your car is this or that, because you know why ITS NOT YOUR F****G CAR!!!! that is what THEY chose to do, if you cant say something nice. dont say anything at all

People just aren't going to really go ape shit for a car with wheels in terms of exterior mods.

I do, hehe, specialy the first time I saw Boostd's car, my jaw dropped ;) you did a good job on that car Boostd, oh and I saw the your newest pic with the bumper back on, :thumb:

oh and for the guy who posted the pic of the red eclipse sittin at the stop sigh, i love your car too, i used to have that pic as a wallpaper :D

the biggest problem with 90% of kits out there is that they don't "flow" with the original lines, or they have useless fake vents in them, or they are copies of something else.

and I see 20 of them everyday on all types of cars but always the same looks... blitz, drift, shogun, etc etc... if its a style rather than a named kit... well it's pretty played out.

the funky skirts that stick out like running boards, the ones with the fake brake vent behind the door that doesn't match any body line and looks like butt with door cap or without.

the "i need more oxygen" bigmouth super cokesniffer noses that are longer than stock but also flatter out front so they look like big shovels... and are seen on everything from an eclipse to a neon to a honda to... well everything.

anything with non matching radii, bulges, fake vents etc looks like crap to me, but it will catch my attention briefly. at a recent cruise I spent more time looking at a mint 93 talon than the other 5 kitted out eclipses with incredible paint etc. because they just did not flow well. hey looked like the owner was trying too hard to get attention.

there are so few that really look nice... kalmari is one of the few that really improves the factory lines without losing, removing, or ignoring them.

me I'm partial to the 97 98 elipse or talon nose/tail with either 98 skirts (eclipse) or 95 eclipse or 95 tsi skirts on a talon (with strakes or with out)... the 98 skirts were just too big and flat to me and I never liked the big recess below the door on them when matched with a talon... blacked out headlights on talons... factory fogs, blacked out FMIC dropped no more than 1.5 and on 17-18 rims tops... To me that equals subtle and flows well and is not stock, and I'll notice it from a block away.

those who say "mix and match" OEM pieces look too plain it seems sometimes are out to draw attention from others rather than trying to avoid attention from all but DSM enthusiasts (johnny Law and tommy thief are watching you!). I can spot stock vs not stock from a block away. particularly if it is moderately lowered.

AGAIN:
its just two different approaches to the same goal, making your vehicle unique. Forthose that say kitted is more unique i have to say hooey. Not when I saw the same kit on a another brand of car 10 minutes ago. DSMs need some minor styling help, mostly in badge removal, lowering, nicer rims, tint, and good paint nicely waxed. they aren't ugly like an SE-r or accord... That is like giving pamela lee a boob job and blonde hair, versus giving your 50 lb overweight girlfriend facial reconstruction & complete body surgery to try to make her look like someone else... or micheal jackson :barf:

those OEM designs that do have staying power (32 ford, 50 ford, 49 studebaker with 50 nose, tri-5 chevy/pontiac/buick, mustang fastback, 1g camaro, 2gb eclipse/talon and 1 gb talon, 4g supra, etc) have very clean and visually appealing lines OEM. they can be improved, but you have to respect the original design, or your creation will be dated in 3-5 years. how many cars do we see even now and you know when the car was built based on the kit that it has??? and its passe' to run that kit now???
OEM styling is never dated IMO.

THose who want to add the latest greatest bk or whatever... make sure it actually lines up with the original lines on the car from 360 around and vertically too if you want it to be a good look and not a fad look.

"You did a great job with the car." It's always an overstatement to me. People saying that someone has done SO MUCH to a car or that it's a great achievement is just ridiculous when all they have done is put wheels on. Sorry to sound so sour, but it's just ludicrous. Most of the cars on the road now have aftermarket wheels only. Are you gonna put them on a pedestal like they are the next Foose or Coddington? I just don't see it. It's always highly exaggerated. Wheels... WOW. Must have went through a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to do all that to the exterior of your car.

I've spent so much time and money on the exterior of my car to please MYSELF. i couldn't give a shit what other people think, ive spent alot of time shaving things because i think anything on the exterior is just a distraction from the shape of the car. Some people might not like it, but i dont care. I have a kit some people don't think its clean, but its all molded into the body (except the front) and you can't tell where the stock body meets the kit so i think it's clean. All you see is beautiful paint and the curve in the side of the body ;)

And that's respectable. Shaving takes a good deal of work. It's not just something you go buy and put on. I'm not trying to be an ass here. I'm just sick of people talking about wheels being like some really rare fabricated part or something. Each to their own, but I think some of the show cars here are nice. The stock look with wheels just doesn't do it for me. I see it everyday.

i do like that you like your car! and it definately is not your average DSM with a kit.
however those are the same skirts that dont match up line wise & with the vent that I detest and see everywhere on everything

and definately an overexagerated nose... and look at me paint.

however I bet it gets a lot of attention and if that was your goal congratulations.

I can't get a pic of my car uploaded it's to big and it's 2:30 in the morning so i'm not trying. Bodykits look great i have a bomex front aerogear rear and erubuni side skirts i'm not gonna write the actually names of each piece but it's a wild kit grabs attention until you do what i did which is mold it on shave the wing antenna rear skirter door caps that ugly groove that goes along the side of the door when you take the cap off little shit like that gets you noticed more and gets more people saying wow that kit looks mean as hell but it looks like it's made to be part of the car. It's the little shit that cleans the car up the 100 plus hrs. you take to make it seamless and smooth, thats my opinion of a clean car. i'm not baggin on the stock look i like it to but i wanted to have something nobody else does and i haven't seen it i will try to get a pic up later.
