Clean my Head?

This is kinda a dumb question but i just took the head off my car and took the entire head apart. Now what do i use to clean the inside out... theres lots of metal shavings in the oil at the bottom (i kno thats bad)... help me out thanks

easiest way would be to take it to a machine shop

Yes, take it to the machine shop. They'll easily be able to clean it up for you and tell you if the head is warped or needs new seals, etc.

It's definately a good idea anytime the head is taken off.

If you're doing a rebuild, you'll need machine work anyway, so let those guys clean it out.

But if you truely do insist on cleaning it out yourself, I'd powerwash it and then let is soak in Oil Eater.

Alot of people soak parts in Purple Power...(deluted in a big tub) cheaper then varsaw (sp,aka.parts washer fluid). A couple of guys I know have done this and it makes it look new. Just let it soak over night. Remember tho its going to harden all your valve seals- should replace anyways. And when you reinstall it that it needs to be lubed back up.

All the seals, guides, seats and stems are out. I dropped it off at my buddy's shop and he said he'll clean it for me, free. Ill let you know how it turns out. Thanks for your help.
