Cigarette lighter into a gauge holder?

Its been done here before, i also have seen this done by taking your gauge cluster apart and replacing them or custom gauge cluster. Its on here somewhere in the tech sec.

Actually, I don't see how that would be a good spot for a gauge, you'd have to take your eyes completely off the road to view it.

its oil pressure gauge you dont look at it when your driving I cant use an a pilar cuase I dont like the looks plus I have a spyder so I think Im gonna do that

what do you mean you don't look at it when your driving? Whats the point of having the gauges then? . I look at my gauges all the time and would only have a gauge there if I ran out of room or something. And it would be something like a volt gauge or something, But I definatly want to keep the oil pressure and water temp. in check.

I have my a/f gauge in the cigarette lighter. You'd think it's kind of low to look at but it's really not. All you have to do is glance, it's like looking at your radio to see what track it is.

Why has no one designed a double din for 2g's yet that will move the radio to the bottom and have room for 2 or three gauges in the top. It can definitely be done. Its extremely common for cars like hondas etc.

You won't be changing CDs while in 3rd or 5th, if you're still using those archaic spinning discs. Otherwise, a DSM's radio space will take pretty-much anything available for DIN. They're huge. A 1G gauge mount should fit just fine, other than that CD thing.

T is for TURBO, when you put the outlet there did you have to buy anything to have it there, or did the stock lighter already have what you needed??

Like mentioned before, it is a good and "free" gauge holder for something like a Voltmeter or extra gauge you want to hook up. Just take the time to make it flush. You can use a grommet or rubber trim to make it look clean.

I've seen a couple of people who have mounted a gauge they need in place of where the cig lighter is. I was just wondering how it was done and how they kept it nice and neat looking? Would appreciate any help.

Dremel, or similar cutting device. People do it for 2 main reasons. 1) it's right above an ignition source for the gauge to work when the car is started. 2)easy on the eyes, it's just a glance down to see it. Usually gauges have a large diameter head on them, and the actual mechanical body is smaller, so just cut a circle just barely big enough for the gauge to squeeze in and your good to. It won't move or wiggle at all if you keep the hole small enough.

Yeah, it's a nice little spot. Another thought would be to modify a gauge into your A/C vent. I just did a gauge there until I can get my Bezel. Just as easy to get to, and I hardly drive the car so I don't have A/C.

i put my water temp gauge in the cig lighter spot. a dremel is your best friend for this

Most people don't, I don't really like it either, but I'm getting a gauge bezel for the vent area and I don't use the climate controls at all so it was an easy spot to pop it in at.

I just put my air/fuel ratio gauge in the cig lighter spot. I love the look of it. Very clean if you do it the right way and dont just hack the center piece apart. I did it with an air dremel and it came out perfect fit nice and snug. I just took my time with it. LOOOOOVE IT!
