changing light around keyhole and cigarette lighter

hey everyone...does anyone have any know how (or have any how-to's) on how to change the color of the led around the keyhole and the cigarette lighter? has anyone done this and have pics of the install or finished pics? I found one on this thing on ebay that was selling some information on how to do it and such...looks cool..i wanna try this...i will replace all my lights in my car eventually...one by one..just gotta get some led's and some resisitors....and then ill start...led's from some places can get expensive...

also...which one would you all recommend...replacing the hvac led to blue instead of orange or buying the white face hvac overlay which automatically changes them to blue but having the white look?

Granted you Keep the stock look if you change all of the Led's in the Hvac...But I just bought the overlay From Speedhut...

I like the look and it matches my headunit perfectly at night. I went with white and red...and at night it's the reverse indiglo so it looks like this...

as far as the ciggrette lighter...i painted it black and took out my bulb b/c it was annyoing to me at ngiht when i was driving...and neve relly worried about the keyhold one b/c it's on for a short amount of time i just didn't worry about it.

I still need to get the speedi gauges to match the Hvac...but all in all i like the look

those look pretty nice....i think ill just go with the overlays...but i still would like to change the bulbs in the keyhole and cigarette lighter...just so they all match...

I think the circle plastic piece is amber itself, I've tried putting a blue LED bulb, a hyperwhite, red, and blue regular bulb and it was still amber. Not 100% sure but it seems like it.

hmm thats wierd....do you know if you could just paint the amber piece and it would affect the color or something?

Possibly but I'm guessing it'll darken it so you'd need a pretty bright LED bulb. Then again, if you have a bright enough LED bulb you might be able to defeat the amber color. I followed that eBay link and in the pic its very blue, not sure how he did it

someone should get a hold of the fella that decided for the amber colour lighting and smack the guy. there have been a ton of postings regarding the want to change. I found one unit that can change the whole colour. it costs 5 bucks, from the UK. so, you're looking around 12 bucks or so. but it's super easy to change and it's got a nice blue to it. I think you can find it by putting in "led monster" for the ebay search. I just ordered mine and have yet to put it in.

So I'm trying to figure out how to change the cigarette lighter ring's color myself. I took it apart..its just a stupid little plastic ring. (See pic). I don't think painting it white will do any good, a la the 'Import Intelligence' lighted-needle mod...on those, you scraped the orange color off. You can't scrape the amber off of this ring. Only way it'd work is if you had a clear ring instead of an amber ring. I tried using a 7k MCD blue LED & even that wasn't enough to shine through..

all u have to do is paint the color of the led and then soak the cigarette lighter thing in paint remover.. it'll remove the amber color..

i never use the lighter cause i don't smoke. so i drilled mine out and but a volt gauge there. looks pretty cool. click here to look my lighter

Ehhhh I don't know if that'll work..it's not paint, the plastic itself is orange. Have you tried this yourself?? I just said the hell with it & spray painted it black. Left a blue LED soldered onto there though, just in case somebody comes up with something...if a company decides to make a CLEAR ring or something. Like that'll ever happen...

I just ripped out the bulb and put a blue LED in and it's pretty blue. The LED wasn't bright enough, but it's still blue.

I haven't changed out the cigar lighter yet but I have changed the key ring to blue with LED's from Superbrightleds.com. of the appropriate size, I had to file down the from just alittle to make it fit, but once in it looked awesome.

It didn't appear at all really, even with a 7000MCD LED.

Check the racks. There's undoubtedly a replacement out there that's clear. Check other Chrysler parts.
