Im thinking about running konis with Diamond Star Specialties Coil Over Kit. Its the cheaper route to go and should still make the car handle.

i didnt see anyone address this yet. It is now impossible to get DSS coil overs, why you ask, because DSS is no more. They closed down last year. The owner moved to Europe. I go to school down in San Luis Obispo, where DSS used to be. A friend of mine who worked there has that setup in his 1g and I must say, the car handles. But I would look into a different setup.

man, that sucks. Well then, konis and K&R springs.

EDIT: H&R hehe

I gotta get some cleaning stuff for that downpipe though. Anybody have some advice on what to use when cleaning stainless steel?

494.95 - pretty cool looking, but expensive. Hehe, I'd look like the stig from topgear (he wore black helmets in the european version, white simpson helmets in the american version that aired on discovery)

444.95 - ditto

139.95 - looks like an astronaught's helmet but hey, its 140!

I think I'll end up buying the third helmet though. I dont know if i can justify spending 300 bucks more for a "cool" helmet, that does the same thing in the end...protect my melon.

Simpson is a great helmet. "Bell" is just as good and about a $100.00 cheaper. And the particular "Simpson" helmet your looking will make you feel a bit claustrophobic ;) I don't know if the 3rd helmet is SA 2000 approved (never heard of it)

Try http://www.impacthelmets.com/impactvelocity.htm This is the helmet I roll, if you don't mind an open face, it's less dorky than # 3, and comfy to boot! Available in black, same price, racer net should be a bit less. Meets all new/current sanctioning body rules and made by Bill Simpson, who left Simpson helmets to do this.

225 bucks for a helmet? i showed my dad and he thought 130 was too much heh...but then again "gotta pay to play"

Hey, I'm probably older then your Dad... You can never spend to much to protect your brain :rocks:

Its likely I am too, & after 4 motorcycle crashes on and off the track, countless times on the dirt, plenty of tore up helmets to show for it, I vote for keeping the brain where it's s'posed to be. It's just more comfortable that way. ROFL

I am 18 and my dad is 51. He is into cars too, but not like me or you. I agree though, even if its 230 or 450, its worth it because it protects the mellon from getting crushed. I just figured they'd be like 80 bucks.

Well I got the downpipe installed yesterday. I had my dad rev it while i looked under the car to see how much it shakes and it'll be fine to drive like that for a couple weeks. I must say though, just with him revving it a little it was shaking the ground. I am 90% sure I dont have a leak in the hydrolics for the clutch. There is no dripping anywheres (left it over night) and i bled it twice yesterday. So, its either a bad master cyl (maybe an internal leak?), a bad slave cyl (checked inside the boot for fluid and there was none), or something messed up internally, such as a bent fork or the flywheel in need of being stepped. Any ideas?

Hey im with ya bro. I'm lookin to get into autocross with my Awd TSi. I run the same clutch and my cyl went out on me as well. Iv had a bunch of problems with that clutch. Jw When you are in like third gear at high rpm and you let off the gas and roll does it make a rattle sound? Mine does and no one knows what it is.

Stop driving the car! It sounds to me like the flywheel is loose. Lightened flywheels will tend to to this sometime (i see you have that listed in your vehicle profile as well)

Get a bolt kit from Forced performance, and some RED loctite.

If you don't you'll A) screw up your new flywheel, B) screw up your new clutch and C) not be driving in a safe condition because if they back all the way out under load you may shatter your bellhousing as well as other damage that can occur.

CHECK THIS OUT RIGHT AWAY!

Sounds sweet. I too am wanting to go this route!! I haven't made my mind up on suspension yet though. I'm basically dead set on some koni's though.

Quick question though, how much better are the konis then the AGX's?? The only thing I don't like about the konis is the fact you have to take the rears off to adjust them!!

First thing is first though, gotta get something to log/tune with. Hopefully I'll have DSMLink real soon

Oh, and as far as turbo, I think you'll be fine with the 14b. It's a great little turbo. The whole t28 Idea is just stupid, you would get basically no performance gain and it would be more of a pain to install then just going with a 16g

O wow yea ill get that looked right away then. The 14 isn't to bad but personally I would go with a 16. I was talking to a guy to does autocross down here in cinci and he said he uses a big 16g and it works good for him. He said that mitsu makes a regular 16g thats a good turbo that bolds up with no modification but I would look more into that. It should give you a top of 390hp-420hp which is where I'm looking to stand in my Awd.

shifts in 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th not 1st or reverse. i am NOT driving it...yet
I almost forgot you were having this problem, with all the other stuff going on. Did you get the clutch working yet? There are dozens of things that could be, try a search or maybe a new thread would get more response/help for that. I'm clueless on clutch problems (so far) :shhh: , good luck on that! :talon:

Already made a new thread but no responses yet. I posted it in the drivetrain section. Also, I bled the slave cyl and tryed shifting again and its easier to do but i still cant shift 1st or reverse. 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th work. 1st and reverse go in gear but grind to get it there. So im thinking either the flywheel is messed up, there is something with the throttle linkage maybe or something like the master cyl not having enough power. im not sure yet, but my cousin is gonna come over friday and help me figure things out. if anything i'll have the flywheel out and restepped over the week and then he'd come back next weekend to help me get it back together. so hopefully if all goes well, it'll be drivable this weekend and if not, next weekend at the latest. anyone wanna come over and help me out? I live in Parma Mi which is west of Jackson by about 10 miles or so, so if you're in the area and want to help out or lend your expertise come on over I'll pm you directions or something!

later,

zach
