chirping sound

I have this strange sound that i can't figure out where its coming from. At idle i there is no noise but above that i can hear it. It seems to increase along with the rmps. It also is rather loud I can hear it with the windows up. And when i roll them down it is really loud. I thought it may be a belt because i just replaced one but that doesn't seem to be causing this noise. It just started doing this a couple of days ago. I have never heard this noise before so im at a loss for words to even compare it to anything. Any help would be great

Check your Jpipe to turbo for boost leaks. Make sure the allen bolts are tight.

Does it just increase volume wise with RPM's? Or does it increase frequency too? And does it change when turning?

volume does increase as rpm's but, then it levels off somewhere and doesn't anymore. No it doesn't when i am turning but at 65mph it is very loud. The pitch of the sound seems the same to me it just decrease when rpms drop. If i am down shifting the sound will go away but soon as i get it in gear again it comes right back.

If your noise sounds anything like that, id def check it out.

+ 1 on the harmonic balancer. gosh I'm slow at adding to these forums haha. but yea i would check out the harmonic balancer right off the crank seems to be a very common problem. hope that helps.

No it doesn't sound like that its more of a grinding chirping

The harmonic balancer is most likely and easy enough to check. Just get down there and check for cracks or general signs of wear.

Any "chirping" sound like the one you're describing is gonna be coming from your belts, so just start checking there. Removing accessory belts until you figure out the noise. My $.02
