Last night I was checking for leaks in the head gasket. I moved each cylinder to tdc and pressurized the cylinder, left the radiator cap. No air came out through the radiator. It seemed just fine, only problem was my compressor was only putting out about 60 psi. Was wondering is that was enough pressure to properly test?

My dad taught me to just take off the cap and then crank the car. If there is a leak it will blow out antifreeze from the radiator. Not necessarily air.

Try it that way and see what you get.

I forgot to add that this is due to over heating issues. The coolant is being pushed out of the radiator and into the overflow bottle. It just will not pull it back in like its supposed to.

Replaced thermostat, radiator, and water pump about 1k ago all oem parts. The only thing I did not replace oem was the cap.

Has your car been blowing white smoke. Have you checked for oil in the coolant or for coolant in the oil?

No white smoke, no oil or coolant either direction. Its not loosing coolant, its filling up the overflow bottle, and not returning to the radiator. The coolant in the reservoir is right on full and after about 30 miles the overflow bottle is over full. I can pull the bottle and top the radiator back off, and then the bottle is right back on the full mark.

Do you know if your water pump has been replaced lately? Or have you tried to flush the radiator?

Replaced water pump about 1k ago. Flushed system when I replaced it and about 500 mi ago again.

Its new, just not oem. Bought it from autozone. Thats makes sense, I'm going to get an oem this weekend. I seem to be having bad luck with aftermarket parts. Thats why everything else I went oem.

yeah I'm having the exact same problem. After driving my coolant begins filling up the overflow tank and coming out, especially under high boost (20psi). This has been going on for a while now but i haven't been overheating i just add coolant once in a while to have it dump all over the ground. I'm assuming my head gasket is bad and I'm pressurizing my coolant. I did the radiator, thermostat, and cap(cap from S**tzone) within the last 5k lemme know if you fix your problem with the new cap.

Well, mine is pushing the same amount out whether im boosting or not. I checked it for two weeks now. 1st week, dive it like i stole it. 2nd week drove it like miss daisy, keeping it out of boost at all times. No difference in the two weeks in the amount off coolant that was "pushed" out.

My initial question was, I pressured each cylinder to 50psi, and found no leaks. Was wondering if that was enough pressure to tell if the gasket was blown?

sounds like you have a air bubble. if it were me id go to auto zone buy one of there no air funnel things just to make sure theres no air. or you could try burping your coolant system.

Well, I went and bought a rad cap from mitsu, last week. No problems since, stupid autozone parts.
