Check Engine on cold start

Every time i start on cold, LOUD whistling noise wakes up all my neighboors (its that loud), comming from drivers side, but i cant pinpoint exactly which belt it is because i can barely stand by it, its so loud. About a minute after start up, check engine lighs up for 2 secodns then shuts down, and after about 3 minutes when i start to drive my car, it lights back on and off right away.

Loud whistle will stay at different pitches all the way until the car is operational temps. Sometimes will go away faster, sometimes will take about 2-3 minutes. I also noticed that when driving, as soon as whistling noise stops the cars gains power.
The wormier it is outside, the faster it it goes away, what belt is it ? how to fix if not replace ?

What could cause engine light to come on and off ? it happens every time on cold start. I wonder if i will be able to read the code even when its off, will ECU remember what last code came up ?

So today in the morning i decided not to open the hood and just listen where the whistle is going to be the loudest, and it end up be at the radiator, is that possible for the radiator to make such a screaming noise ?

Yes the radiator can make that noise if there is a small hole in it. It's letting off air pressure. And most ecu's hold codes for four or five key cycles.

So, I've gone to multiple car shops to check my Check engine light, and no shops could connect their devices to the car, i would just not communicate, so i cant even get the code out. What can lead to this problem ? I have a 1996 GSX with 1997 GST Eprom ECU and link. BTW is it possible to check engine light codes in DSMlink ?

The ECU is more than likely locked in ECMlink mode for faster logging. If you need to do DEQ or connect some other form of standard ODB II reader go to the Tab above what I'm talking about below the "misc" one and turn this off. If neither apply then just leave it checked.

You best bet here (and not sure why you would go to a shop if you have link) is going to just pull up your ECM settings with the car connected and go to you "DTC" Tab. There will be any CE codes listed there. Keep in mind the car can have the CE come on for other things like Knock. Though if it's flashing at Idle I doubt that is the issue.

Thank you very much, ill try that at home, and if it does actually pulls out codes, then that is great because from now on i can check all that stuff by my self instead of disturbing others what a great piece of advice and technology.
