As I was driving my check engine light came on so I went to my auto shop to have it checked out but he told me that he can't pull a code because when he turns the key then check engine is not on but when I start the car it comes on but he can't pull the code that way what could be wrong.

Check your battery connection, and ecu harness, and make sure everything is snug. When he tries to pull the code, have him do it with the car on and while the light is on, then when he turns the key off and back on have him wait.

So does he plug it in while the car is running with the CEL on, then when he turns the key the CEL goes off.
WEll what if you start the car again while the car is idling and see if the CEL comes back on, then you should be able to read it?

He said the he can't read the code with the engine running he can only read it if the light is on when you turn the key not starting it, the problem is the only time the light shows up when the car is running.

take it to a dealer with a PDA... not a OBDII scanner. Your computer will remember your previous thrown codes, but scanners won't pick them up.

The engine light came off and now it's on again and with the same problem like before do you know what the problem could be.

So the OBD scanner won't tell me the problem.

Yeah, just go fiind a dealer, mitsu or chrysler, and have them run the code, they'll get it for sure.
