Okay, so I am very new to DSMs. I have a 1997 Eagle Talon TSi 108k miles and the CEL is on. I took it into Autozone to have the CEL read and these are the codes that I got.

P1400- Manifold Differential Pressure Sensor Circuit

P1105- Fuel Pressure Solenoid

Basically, I wanted to know what the common causes of these things failing and what are some remedies other then replacing the parts themselves.

thanks.

Update: Changed the MDP, that code is gone, changed the FPS, that code is still there, and I am currently showing P0551 which is power steering pressure switch.

PO551- CEL, is it possible for this to be caused by low power steering fluid?

P1400 - the MDP sensor thats located at THE TOP of the intake manifold. Check for loose connections or check via manual. If you're getting this code then you probably have a faulty sensor, no other causes.

they are caused by clogged or fault sensors. Some people have been able to clean the fuel pressure solenoid to eliminate the code, but most have had to replace it. I also have the FPS code, but I have to fix my turbo first before I can fix the solenoid. Also replace the hoses to the fuel pressure solenoid.

So I just got done looking at all my connectors and cleaning what I can. At which point, I also went ahead and did a hard reset by removing battery connector and pressing horn button.

After this, I have no more CEL, which leads me to believe that its not a hard failure. I could be wrong though.

The car use to idle at like 400-500 RPM, which sometimes made me think that the car wasnt running at all from inside the cabin. After the connector cleaning and reset, it sits nicely at 800-900RPM, but this may be because the ECM is relearning??

Any input would be nice.

The car will need to run for ~50 miles so it can learn all the sensors. The normal RPM may be part of the process but dont expect it to stay if there are still issues with the car.

I've had the P1105 error before and it caused my cars idle to run low, I've also experienced the "temporary fix" by resetting the ECU, but eventually (in a few driving cycles) the code would come back and the idle would suffer again. I had to replace the fuel pressure solenoid to permanently remedy the problem. They're inexpensive, I picked up one from the classifieds on this site.

Yea your def not going to get the CEL back on until you put at least another 50 miles on the car after the reset. I have an extra MDP sensor if you need it, PM me for a good shipped price :thumb:

definitely temp. Just PMd rEclipserGST about that MDP, now looking for a fuel pressure solenoid. If you guys have one, pls let me know.

Payment sent rEclipserGST. Now, if only someone would sell me a fuel pressure solenoid!

Got the MDP from rEclipserGST but I have yet to install it. Super fast shipping, Ill leave feedback as soon as Im able.

Also, after changing the PS/alt belt, I saw that my crank pulley was doing the wobbly dance after startup. So I am now looking for a crankshaft pulley for a 4g63T. Will pay extra shipping to have this thing expedited as in OVERNIGHT.

This is the second used vehicle to do this to me before a months time of owning it. Stupid MR2 and DSM!!

I used to throw a CEL for the FPR solenoid. Since I removed the vac lines from it, I havent gotten that code for 8k miles. Just hook the vac line from the manifold to the fpr. Dont worry about hooking it up to the solenoid. just make sure its still plugged in.

updated first post with a question that I cant seem to find in the threads on this forum using a variety of words to coincide with what I am looking for. If you can answer I would greatly appreciate it. question is also below.

My new dillema is, are the 1G and 2G harmonic balancers interchangeable. Legit question. any help is appreciate in answering this question. thanks

New question as above. is it possible for the engine to throw CEL code P0551 if there is low powersteering fluid. Any help would be great.
