I got a check engine light and it was for my fuel pump, I've gotten it once or twice before, nothing seemed wrong so I disconnected the battery and it went away for a while. Now I'm wondering if something is actually wrong? When I tap lightly on the gas, you can hear the fuel pump make a bit of a squeaking noise, it almost sounds like when brakes squeak. My car has been running pretty rough but I just thought it was because I'm in desperate need of a tune, and because my boost controller is not set up in the ideal way at the moment, but my car runs bad even out of boost, boost just makes things work but that's a whole other story. Any suggestions or should I just take it to a shop? I know it's a pretty tough question to answer over the internet, but any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I know it whines and stuff when its on, but this is different, it sounds like fire works, or like a balloon when you pull the end tight.

Pop the ecu apart and take a look at the caps and see if they are leaking. The fuel pump circuit is rite next one of the 2 caps that are known to leak

It only takes a few min. to pop out and inspect

Yeah I didn't see anyone else have a CEL for just the fuel pump
But mine read "Fuel Pump" I forget the number, but that's all it said, I'll check the ecu caps, thanks guys.

Well I checked the caps on the ECU and didn't see/smell anything bad. And I narrowed down the "whining/whistling" I was talking about, it's coming from the fuel rail. If I rev the motor a little bit, on the downfall of RPMS you can hear the whistling from the fuel rail, it will last anywhere from a split second to 5 seconds. I only have 2 of the 3 fuel rail bolts in for the time being, I snapped one of the bolts. I assume that there is a leak at the injectors because of this and that's what the whistle is.
