cheap mbc that wont fail

Your maximum intake boost is regulated by a vacuum feed. A manual boost controller manipulates the input vacuum feed to a desired output. However, without an accurate gauge you will find it rather difficult to know where you stand. The maximum boost is set at your waste gate pressure setting. I don't see why you would spend the extra money if you can get the same effect...

This might be a noob thing to say but I am in the right section LOL, how to you change the boost from the wastegate?

Its controlled by the spring in the wastegate. So a softer or harder spring will effect how soon/late a wastegate opens. A boost controller just manipulates the pressure thus tricking the wastegate into opening sooner or later.

Usually there is a vacuum hose to open the valve at a preset pressure, which would in turn stop spooling the compressor. If you allow the vacuum to be bled off the waste gate thinks its at a lower pressure...

so it is better to get a mbc once you have some supporting mods to turn your boost up a little or get bigger springs or better wastegate????

I saw that one but they dont have any of the tubes, where can I get those, would like a hardware store have some?

I assume you have an internally wg t-25, so you can't get bigger wg springs. You can either get a Joe P. MBC or make one from HDR. (home depot racing) You'll have to search on making one b/c I can't find my bookmark...

Any autoparts jobber can get you the rubber hoses. I prefer carquest or napa.

ok thank you very much and yes its the stock t25

ebc ftw. I regret so bad not buying one. i've gone thru 3 mbc's because of boost spike. Try an ebc and be happy. boost -/+ at the push of a button!

If you were having spike problems with an mbc, it was probably the bleeder type, they are junk. I bet that 90% of people running high boost run an mbc. The reason is that ebc's suck for high power cars, they only control boost up to 2 bar. Now on my dd car where i only boost 25-28 psi max, that is fine, but a huge turbo race setup will laugh at 30 psi. The only ebc worth having on a big boost car is to use the aem 5 bar sensor with the aem ems controlling the solenoid. I'm willing to say my galant made 150 more hp with the cheap ebay mbc. Why? 10-15 more psi of boost out of the hx40.

Quoted for truth... The only ebc that i can think of that can control boost at 30psi+ is the AEM TruBoost, and that is only after the 5 bar external map sensor upgrade. The map sensor that is used by default can only control boost up to 30psi and is built inside the gauge/controller unit...

I just ordered a NXS boost controller for my car, and am excited to see how it works. FYI you can get them off ebay for $16 shipped! Talk about a great deal, just make him an offer... Also, for $35 you can get the NXS boost controller, vacuum t, 4ft of vaccum line, and some zip ties.

I have seen a 19psi actuator for sale on one of the vendors sites. Or you can do the spring mod that the srt-4 guys do to their stock turbos. They buy a pack of springs with hooks on both ends and put them on the actuator. Google it. Doing this to a t-25 may be pointless but I'm just letting you know the options .

i can't say nothing more than you are 100000000% right

HOWEVER, do you think mr man with a t25 is gonna push 30psi, or did he post that he was building a race engine. i mean yea we can talk about 30+ engines all day but i was talking to the OP.

ebc ftw for a dd.

i just have one question. Why would you run 30 psi with a mbc? external wastegate anyone?

I fought with that crap on my 18g for months until I decided to go ext WG. I couldn't get stable boost control to save my life with the internal wg and a "helper spring."

I am running 28-30 psi and I use a Joe P MBC. I have a few friends that run 9s & 10s using an MBC on their GT4202 & T67.

I'm not saying he needs to run 30+ psi. I'm saying that a good ball and spring mbc is good enough for people with large setups, so it's good enough for a t25. An ebc on a t25 car is dumb, take the $500 an avcr costs and buy a 16g and mbc. The only reason i have an avcr is that i bought a car with one. In fact if you think they are so great, buy mine. I'll take the money and put a hx40 on my dd, wonder who gets the better performance mod out of the deal?

Wish id have seen one of those before i spent 50 on a sbr one. O well supporting the vendor

i'd actually consider it, what do you want for it?

I plan to get a sc300 soon hummm....

i've got a 16g too, i've built my car from bone stock to where it is now and still have to deal with boost spikes because of my mbc. yea pm me on that if you don't mind we will talk!
