ok ive searched high and low. im having issues where my alteranator isnt charging my battery. its is a brandnew battery, and brandnew alternator, and a brand new fuse. checked all the grounds they are now clean. the wierd thing is the car will run and stay running with a electrical load and will run it self dead after a long time. as i increase electrical load the rpm is directly effected. the battery light and break light does not come on even when its just about to die. i know the bulbs work because they come on at start up. even when the car is running fine at idle, and it seams like every thing is ok, i can shut it off, and go to start it again, and there is litterally no voltage in the battery. i dont consider myself a dumby but im dumb founded on what it could possibly be. and sorry in advanced for the poor grammer and spelling.

It is common to get a defective alternator. Start with the basics though. Is it hooked up correctly? Do you have power to the alternator? Is the wire at the battery hooked up? The biggest thing would be make sure the plug at the alternator is getting 12V then go from there testing.

sometimes reman alternators are bad from the store or have bad regulators. it has happened to me before. check charging voltage at the battery. it should be 13.5-14.5 volts. if inadequate voltage is found here check it at the alternator main terminal and battery ground to verify alternator is not producing voltage (and to verify power harness is not open/ shorted to ground. you can also check resistance between alternator and battery for high resistance.

i know every thing is hooked up right, ive got a pretty good mechanical background, trying to locate a good volt meter though, the last two ive gotten my hands on said the car was running on .5 volts at the alternator and battery..... so i guess my search continues. i thihnk i might just have to break down and spend the money on a good voltage tester.

Is there any way that the alternator safety relay could cause a no charge problem
