I have been searching for this answer but I have been unsuccessful. I removed my egr valve and vacuum lines associated with it. Since I am still running a stock intake pipe I left the charcoal canister in place with the line that vents into the intake still connected.

Will the charcoal canister act as a vent for the gas tank even though I disconnected the vacuum lines from it? I understand that there is an evap solenoid but I wasn't sure exactly how the charcoal canister would operate without the solenoid.

I would disconnect it from the intake until you find out for sure that you can have it hooked up without the other lines. You don't want a vacuum in your gas tank, but then again, that's what the check valve is for on the line. I would still leave it off.

I didn't think about the vacuum in the tank, I will disconnect the intake line and zip tie it under the car somewhere.
