Well just like it says I changed a bad wheel bearing (pass rear); now I have the car on jacks; if I put it in drive that wheel makes a clicking noise (sounds more like it from the differntial than anything. I know the bearing is good also if the car is in park and you grab the pass. rear wheel should you be able to spin it?(of course the car is off) just need to know were to look for the problem so I can get this hog rolling.

thanks
Chris

I'm not a DSM expert so not sure if you have a limited slip back there. If yes and the car is an automatic then park may be preventing the drive shaft from turning until you overcome the limited slip. Did you try with it in neutral?

I would say as a general statement most clicking will be caused by the CV joints becoming worn, boots broken, and loss of lube. However, if you don't have the car supported on the outmost part of the suspension (not the body) it will have them flexing at extreme angles causing the cages and bearings to possibly bind. In some cases the CV joints must be phased correctly so they are not growing longer and shorter in their rotational arc.

Hopefully you were not having to beat on anything except the end once you released the nut and it is properly installed.

Cheers,
GTM

Actually we would have a viscous type limited slip in the rear so you should be able to move that wheel seperately from the others until you start to spin it with enough force to apply torque to the the other wheel. Have you checked the brakes and are you sure the axle joints are good?

ok looked in the shop manuals and found out that if you spin the rear wheel clockwise that both wheels should spin clockwise. in my case this is not happening, so it says to replace the VCU not exactly sure what that is. i think they mean the viscous coupling which if its broken would cause some kind of clicking when rotating correct?

anyone know how much a Viscous is and may be the labor involved to replace it?

thanks
Chris
