CEL while cranking? then shuts off? ( no start)

Im trying to diagnose a no start..dsmlink v3 hooked up and im wondering if you can check CELs that come up while cranking? When I turn my key " on" the lights pop up then shuts off, go to crank the car and it just cranks and cranks no start and a cel is popping up but shuts off if I stop cranking. help
