Started my GSX up this morning, and it idled very roughly at about 300 rpms. Felt like it was running on three cylinders. I pull the CEL code and it returned an ignition coil and ignition circuit malfunction. there are two plugs on my vehicle that go to the coil, both right above the AC compressor; is there another plug somewhere that could be loose? Is there anything else I should check before replacing the coil?

swap the coils with each other and see if the code switches to the other coil if it moves its the coil if it doesnt then i would look at the wiring

check the transistor, the little rectangular box on top of the intake manifold, 2 of my fiends have had problems with these in the past. look for a loose connection.

I am not familiar with this plug. is it on top of the intake manifold on a 1G? If you could be more specific, I will check out this plug.

The Ignition control module (transistor), on 1Gs its right next to the coil pack on the driver side. It will be a black box bolted or screwed onto the intake manifold, it looks like this:
