CEL came on after a little WOT

So I was just driving, got on it just easing it and then I heard a little pop like one of the pipings weren't tight enough and the check engine light came on. I unplugged the battery and the car is perfectly fine like how it was before. I got a little on it again tonight and same thing. CEL came back on... What you do think would trigger this? Can a loose intercooler pipe cause this? I'm not sure....

It could be a number of things. But stop unplugging your battery and get the codes read with a OBD2 scanner.

It was just the first time that I did it to see if it would come back. My roommate has one and just waiting to ask him when he gets off work.... It came back on tonight and I just parked it. Really want to know what the code reads.

Why wouldn't you just get it read in the first place? I don't understand the point of seeing if it will go away after unplugging the battery without knowing why it even came on.

Okay, so anyone answer this question at least without telling me anything otherwise, when you install an aftermarket turboback exhaust without a cat, should your CEL come on or not? I was wondering why mine didn't come on, but again, I don't know much at all and still learning that's why I'm here. Thanks.

I would think that it would come on w/o the cat, but any links/etc would help. Thanks again.

Its not the absence of the cat that would cause the CEL, its the absence of the rear O2 sensor. If you still have that second O2 sensor, you will have no code.

Thanks everyone. I found the problem. Was a code p1103. Checked my wastegate plug and was loose.

I'm having the same code too. As I understand, there is no sensor for the wastegate itself so what plug are you refering too your BCS (boost controller solenoid)?

Its not the absence of the cat that would cause the CEL, its the absence of the rear O2 sensor. If you still have that second O2 sensor, you will have no code.

Removing my the cat will throw a cel. As soon as put a test pipe on my gst the dummie light came on. The o2 sensor is there to make sure the cat is working efficiently. How would it not come on if its missing?
