CEL came and went

Today i started up my car and it started just fine, as i went to drive off, the car jerked and the CEL went on for a second. I pressed the clutch in and the car started to drive just fine and there is no CEL. Any idea what could have caused this?

EDIT - Correct me if i am wrong, but does the ECU store the CEL's that it throws? I may have to go to the local auto store and use their reader. I know my question is really vague, i guess i am too impatient to wait.

Just go to Auto Zone or somewhere and have them read the code for you (or get a datalogger ). My guess is that your CEL will make another appearance sometime, probably sooner than later.

For what it's worth, I've heard of coolant temp sensors that are going bad triggering phantom CELs that won't come on until your car has been idling for a bit, then will mysteriously go away for a while.....then come back when you least expect them.....

Is the car doing anything strange? Hard starts, anything like that?

so far the car runs just fine. Nothing odd has shown its head yet. I am going to see if my auto store is open when i get off work. I would get a datalogger but i havent really found a cheap one. I would love it to hook up to my laptop. Anyways i am running late for work, so i will update later on tonight. Thank you for the reply.
