ok, so i bought a stock 92 talon tsi fwd a couple weeks ago and up until yesterday the fastest i'd taken it was 65 on the highway. So yesterday on the way home i decided to get on it a little, everything's ran fine on the car besides a boost leak i fixed early on and a high idle problem (biss) fixed the next day, so anyway i quickly reached 105 and then coasted to my exit, while on the exit my cel clicked on then went off, then clicked on again, then went off again. it did this about 4 or 5 times then stopped. today i was on my way to church (about 20 miles away) and no cels or anything, on the way home i decided to speed it up some to see if it was just a fluke or if it happened at high speeds. So i sped up to about 98 then again coasted to my exit. sure enough the cel came on while on the off ramp, except this time it only clicked on once then went off. after that, no cels. i searched but didn't find anything on this. i was thinkin possibly cat. clogged and throwing o2 sensor??? i really don't know. it's not somethin i'm seriously worried about (don't go that fast often, hardly ever). but it's more out of curiosity, plus i don't want one thing to lead to another. anyway, thanks.

There is absolutely so many things that it could possibly be. You need to find someone who can pull the codes for you, or get an obd1 cable and software. There is obviously codes being saved in to the system. Do that and get back to us.

So I FINALLY pulled a code for my car using a voltmeter. The code is 31 (knock sensor) I'm going to replace this asap. Just for my info what exactly happens when a knock sensor goes bad? I know that it retards the timing or something but could someone give me a better explanation of the process?
