i almost ran over some kid that cut across the street on their bike.. she knew traffic was comming it seemed almost intentional.. but i think makeing my car a bit louder would be worth it..but the cops here are lame about how loud a car can be..

I'd like to get a cat back, eliminate the leaking flex pipe.. and improve flow with a selectable tone/flow exhaust system. like you can exchange tips etc..

Can someone recommend a cat back that isnt extrordinarily expensive? and yet lighter then oem...

I liked the GReddy Evo II exhaust when i had my 99 GS....it was very deep tone, not raspy; the 97-99 rear bumper hid the bulk of the muffler very well from a standing position aswell.

Personally one my favorite exhausts I've used was the VRSF (if I remember correctly) exhaust. It was 3" straight back, used a Magnaflow muffler, and had a great low tone and wasn't obnoxiously loud but loud enough for people to hear you comming.

I run an HKS Hi-Power turbo back and it's great, can hear my turbo at idle and it just sounds good and isnt obnoxious :)

The flexpipe is part of the downpipe which is pre-cat, so a catback will not replace this. :aha:

A header would replace this and can make the system louder aswell.. I wouldn't know a cheap one though...

+1 on the HKS system, I love the sound of mine, but if a cop wants to be a dick you will get crap over the exhaust no matter what.

LOLs, i'm forced to use craigslist and the like.. ebay is corrupt, greedy bastards, that think i owe them $130 when they deducted the fees from what the buyer paid.. then they want me to pay more fee's on top of that.. it's ridiculous.. and it messes up your credit bad.. if anyone has an issue with something you sold.. it list's it as a bad trade on your credit history.. and stays there.. even if you told them what was not apart of the deal and what could be expected from the software purchased..win 98..meant for gateway pc's... so there would be no vendor specific drivers.. i even offered to find the drivers and burn a customized cd-rom for those that needed it.. and they simply refused, like i was trying to sell them bad stuff.. like they didn't read anything.. and then got upset when they didn't get what they wanted..and then refused what they needed.. people are so freaking lame man..

o.0 glances at the dsm forums classifieds.. wait's for $6000 to fall from the sky.. =c

i bought an ebay 2 tips and down pipe for my gvr4 with hollowed cat and a resonator and had a local shop install it and its 3" all the way.... for 250 parts and labor included..... i like it not too loud and it has that deep tone into it....

How does the Apexi N1 compare to those? I was thinking about getting it...
i have a apexi N1 muffler and i love it. it has a deep tone, not to loud nor to quite. here is a little clip i took like a month back. was the first start up of the day so it wasent at idle temp

I love the sound of my 3 inch megan racing downpipe and exhaust. Its not as loud as you'd think but its very quiet either. I love it, it sounds great at WOT

I second the Megan Racing catback and down pipe. If you want it loud just take out the silencer but if you don't want to get pulled over just put the silencer back in, take 1 min to remove or install it. I am in the profession for Law Enforcement and have yet to get pulled over for the exhaust, nor am I worried about it.

just run a 3 in ebay exhaust. i have one on my spyder, and it sounds nice and deep. then again though, i have a 2.4, not the 2.0

+1 for HKS Cat Back and +1 for Megan Racing Downpipe w/ cat delete...:hellyeah:

I have both installed on my car, the sound is amazing at idle and WOT. Fitment on my car was great, absolutely no issues at all when i installed either one of them

Good luck in VA. The best thing, I think you can do, is a 3" Vibrant muffler, and custom piping. Alot of people are doing this in VA. Most of the time, police don't even hear your car, they can just see that aftermarket muffler, and ticket you for noise because they can.

Nice, looks like most exhausts are good. I wonder if there is any dyno comparison between them...
