So i got the p0340 cel code to pop up, so this weekend im going to go and get another cas form a local dsm guy, my question is what steps do i need to take to install it?

I made maybe 3 threads asking about how to install a CAS on a 2g without much luck.
First of ll I'd wanna let you know that the CAs is often the cause of a random MULTIPLE cilynder, not for individual cylinder like what that code your posted represents.
But I dont know anything about your car and you may, very well, need new CAS.

I Pm'ed a guy who has done it and he says that it just comes right out. Put the new on in in the exact same orientation (backwards will cause you trouble) and then seal it back up again, assuming you don't need a new o-ring.

Good luck!

LOL, thats kinda funny cause last night i was searching cas, and saw that you were looking for the same answer and noone was helping you.. dont you have to set the timing or somehting on the new one? how would you put it in backwards when the sensor automatically faces the rear?

I am thinking he (pie*****) is speaking of haveing the sensor turned 180 degree's out by turning the center of the sensor. Its kinda hard to explain but the part that actually sits into the cam. How to tell wich way is the right way I have no Idea I was just going to try both when I actually get mine to run LOL

If I remember correctly, you have to remove the cap on the CAS on the '97 and pull the screw holding it to your intake cam and that is it. Install is the opposite of removal. I looked all over the inner piece to see if there were marks to make sure it was not 180 out, and could not find any, so I just did as was stated ^^^, and tried both ways.

I just remove my 1g green top and installed a 1g blacktop. You just simply remove the two bolts holding it on, unplug the harness and pull it off. Before you pull it off, I would reccomend marking the angles of how it sits on your valve, I just used a sharpie and kin of traced it. The simply line you old one back up too the right angle, put the bolts back in and plug it. You can then time it, but mine was exact just by marking where the old on was.

Also if you are getting single misfire it is probally one of your plugs or wires, so check them individualy first. Random misfire is usually the CAS.

Maybe this wiring diagram will help.

You can always install a 1G cam angle sensor in a 2G

On 97'-99' year, you need to grab this blue wire from the 2G CAM sensor plug and solder to the white wire coming out the CAS harness.

Because it doesn't mean shit. I drove my car for 6 months before i started getting random misfire after i did the 6 bolt swap.

the 97-99 CAS has one ten millimeter bolt that hold it in place. Unplug the old senor, take the bolt out put the new one back in. Then reset the ecu by taking the negative side of the battery off.

For some reason there are people not having problems with the random misfire, it doesn't matter if you have green top cas or black top cas. It looks like 95-96 there are people having more problems comparing to 97-99.

It's 100% random but usually once it starts, it will not stop...read my posts above from 2006 to see why.
