So I have pretty much gotten no where over the last week of toying with the car in between work and other projects. The car (99 GST, 6 bolt swap which has been in for a few years) was my reliable daily driver until the crazy winter we had here and I decided to pull her apart and throw on some goodies. I was heat soaking the POS greddy fmic so while that was off I went to town... redid my TDO6 20G, ETS race FMIC, magnus sheet metal, braille battery, repainted my FP exhaust manifold...
Car sat for months and months with other projects and work unfortunately taking priority. Once I got her all finished back up about 2-3 weeks ago I cant get it to start up for the life of me. Honestly its been giving me more headaches then any DSM has ever and I dont know how much more I can put up with this :-/
Heres the run through, all that was really changed from before was the new FMIC and magnus sheet metal intake manifold. Attempt to start the car and it tries to fire but wont start. When the car was parked it ran perfectly every single day.
I have swapped out with tested working parts or new parts the following:
-NGK plugs
-wires
-coil pack
-ignitor
-MAS
-CAS (91+ version AND black top)
-injector resistor
-fuel injectors
Drained ALL the fuel in the tank just incase of ethanol issues, filled with +10 gallons of fresh shell 93. Pump works fine and fuel is flowing fine through the lines...DSMLink let me purge the tank by activating the pump
I had it fire up and run for about 20 seconds after the new fuel but misfired terribly and shut off on its own. With DSMlink I found its pulling a Cam Angle Sensor Circuit Malfunction code. Sensor was swapped with a good working/tested working unit, no change. Wires for the 6 bolt swap are all still neatly soldered and shrink wrapped, no breaks.
When I crank it a bit and then pull the plugs... 1 & 4 have fuel on them, 2 & 3 DO NOT
Plug wires are swapped as they were before the fmic/IM on the coil pack
Is there a fuse or relay I need to look into? Does the coilpack/ignitor need to be grounded like they were on the OEM manifold (I did try bolting them down but dont see this being it)? If the engine cranks enough and doesn't start could it pull this CAS code or how do I test the CAS wiring? I can swap the ECU out but Ive never seen a 2G one go bad. The car just sat, didnt get touched for months!?
Id really like to have the car back and running. Plus its been kinda hell not having boost for the greater portion of the year. Any input would be great, ive searched and spent countless hours toying with the car. Its killing me at this point!?
Thanks
So the final conclusion and answer to the mystery...my 95 EPROM with DSMLink went bad... interesting since it just sat for a few months but I swapped it out with my brothers ECU/DSMLink and it fired right up. This explains why the 2 injectors weren't firing. Time to send it off to have it rebuilt.
