I had a buddy wire a spare 1g CAS to my 2g so I wouldn't have to buy the 2g one again. I broke the original bought a new one and broke it. He is confident that he wired it correctly. He said he was having problems getting it to start so he turned the CAS and finally got it to start. The car feels insanely slow compared to how it was. The timing marks on the cams line up just right. Could the CAS be causing such poor performance? Ive been told that my cams might be off by 180 degrees, or put in upside down i guess. Can driving the car with timing off cause bent valves or anything like that? Beside a physical inspection of the cam marks what are other ways to check if timing is right. This was all done after a new head and HG install.

The first gen cam sensor is adjustable. When installing it you need to set the ignition timing. To do this you need to set the car into base timing mode via the instructions in the manual(for a 2g). Then you set the timing by rotating the cam sensor, I beleive clockwise advances you timing and counter clockwise retards it.

Let me know if this doesn't help and I can further help you, I am ase certified in engine performance and diagnose ignition systems all day for a living.

Im glad to have someone know what there talking about, assuming the timing is off, either by the CAS or the timing belt install, could this cause damage to my head? I just replaced my head. I blew a HG and got my head decked ported polished and hot tanked. 5 days letter timing belt broke thanx to the lower bar the upper timing belt cover attached to rubbing against the belt. So i installed a different head and had my buddy do the timing. He didn't sound very confident that he knew it was right. "should be good" After the new head we couldn't get it to start. I assumed i broke the CPS, the one under the cam gear on the driver side. He said he knew how to wire the 1g CAS. Basically he cut off the connectors for the CPS and the other one and wires the 4 wires from the 1g CAS into those. If the cam or CAS is in upside down could that cause these symptoms? It feels like the car is reaching full boost much sooner and like its much less boost. I have no boost gauge or loggers of any sort.
