Hi Everyone,

So I have run into a rather nightmarish scenario with my car. I was replacing the carrier bearing bushings and when removing the nut that holds the driveshaft I discovered the threads are completely messed up and not torqued to 29lbs that they are supposed to be.

My attempts at torqueing them correctly confirmed my fears that the threads on the studs are completely stripped.

What are my options here, should I cut some new threads using a die or do these studs need to be replaced by a fabrication shop.

Has anyone run into this problem before ?

thanks for any help,

Kris

Somebody probably cross threaded them on at some point.
If you can clean them up enough to grab with a dye, that would be a lot easier than replacing it. I would try that first.
