So my car had not been started in about a week and I went outside to start it and it wouldn't start so I jumped the car and it started and I let it run for awhile and I came back outside and shut it off and thought things were fine and I went to start the car the next day and the same thing so I jumped it and it started and I was like "hmmm I wonder if the car will start back up if I shut it off" so I shut the car off and it wouldn't start back up, it was like the battery wasn't even connected.. So today I decided to work on my car to see what the problem is and I uninstalled my alternator and battery and took them and got them both tested and they were both fine and then I noticed that the 2 ground wires on the alternator were a little frayed so I cut them and redid them and I go and try to start the car back up and same thing, it was like the battery was completely dead.. One thing I thought was weird is the car wouldn't die until I pushed on the brake pedal, then it would lose all power like it was shorting out. So now I'm completely stumped as to what it could be. :banghead:

There are no ground wires to the alternator. It grounds through the mount. The wires that run to the stud on the alternator are the B+ output to the alternator fuse. It you touched them to a ground while the battery was connected, you blew the alternator fuse.

If the car won't crank and the battery is good then I'd start by looking at the terminals.
If the car cranks but your not charging, then look at the alternator fuse

If You Figre Out the Probblem let me know whats going on cause im having almost the exavt thing going on in my car. Everything i searched about it always came up as the ECU. My batteries new alternators good i grounded my battery better checked my alternator fuse, everything and i still cant figure it out,

I had the same problem it would jump and run till it was in gear then it would die. I also took out the battery and alt got them both tested came back clean. Spent 10 dollars on new terminals and problem solved. The power and ground both were pretty corroded under the coating so dont underestimate that and check them out!.

Got the car running today, cleaned the terminals and went through a lot of the wiring in the engine bay and cleaned it all up, threw the battery back in and the car is running fine now.. I don't know specifically what was wrong with it, all I know is its working now.. I could kick the damn thing Lol. One thing I do need to do though is rewire my fuel pump, thing whines like a bi*** and is annoying and I read that they whine loud because they aren't getting enough power.
