Car won't stay running

95 talon esi automatic, My car dies when you press the brakes and put it into gear, car starts and idles just fine. Vacuum lines seem to be okay. Struggling to find a solution.

If it has an automatic start then thats a safety feature. what exactly is it doing besides dieing, is it like a complete shut off. or like a stumble and die. if it has the automatic start makes sure that the ignition is turned to the on position before putting it in gear. it's possibly that the switch might be bad and not reading that the car is actually on so when you push the brake it still senses that it's not in the on position. My car did that and it drove me nuts. till i changed the ignition cylinder out.

I was asking because my friends had one and when he pressed the break it would die because it was wired wrong.

Does it die when you put your foot on the brake or when the trans engages a gear? If when the trans goes into either reverse or drive...(Whichever way your pointed) I would say idle? Is it set high enough? can you get it to stay running by giving it just a little more gas while trying to get it into gear? But if your car does have an auto start I would check there first..Unless the idle is low.
