so cal, California
car was fine before, let it sat a few weeks, went back to start her up and she won't turn over. battery is fine because i unplugged it when i left her, checked spark and fuel and they're fine, everything in the dash lights up normally. is there a way to check what codes i am getting without using a scanner?

Just because you unplugged the battery doesn't mean it isn't a shitty battery. Have you tried jumping it?

+1 to jumping it or testing said battery . Also is the starter engaging ? does it click do you hear it try to engage ?

Yeah, battery would be my guess also. These cars are finicky about low voltage issues when the battery gets low.

that is true when i put my new alt on i forgot to check what the volts are fom the batt. andit wouldnt start because of the batt. it was at 8 volts if i remember corectly. but does it turn over? does it sound like the starter is not catching? but mostly the battery if it kinda trys to turn and u no the starter is catching.

the car cranks but it won't turn over. i'll try a jump to see if that works. i'll check the voltage on it. thanks guys.

Good news is that it is cranking over.

Start by checking for spark, pull each plug wire one by one and see it you have spark. If that checks out move on to fuel.

Disconnect the fuel line going into the fuel rail and crank the car, if you have fuel supply proceed to check the timing.

Pull the timing cover off and ensure timing has not jumped.....try those simple things first and let me know the results before we moving on

you guys were right, it was my battery. hooked up the dmm to it to see what the voltage readings were and it read 12.2, but as soon as I tried starting her up it dropped down to 10.2. Jump started her, and after a few tries she came to life. it now idles at around 14.X volts. thanks for your help guys!

yeah, it's a HO alt. next upgrade will probably be a small battery from optima or another competing manufacturer.
