Car wont start... engine doesnt even turn...??

ok.. ill start with my engine has about 1100 on it since i rebuilt it... engines run perfect besides a little idle surge and my bov leaking.

i put a new water pump new alternator, and new starter along while i was rebuilding it!

Cars as started with no problems what so ever till yesturday morning while i was starting her to warm her up before i left for work!
I go to start her and it just clicks!! clicks maybe three or four times and stops!
i figured it was the battery... but get home from work and try and jump it and still just clicks! i had my girls car sitting on my battery for a while to charge it and nothing!

The starter is basically BRAND NEW, it has 1100 miles on it... could it just have died on me or is there something else i can check!
I also checked the connections to the starter and they all seemed to me on fine!!

Did you jump it correctly? A clicking starter is a dead battery 95% of the time.

The battery is probably junk.

take it to an autoparts store and get them to charge it and test it. Sometimes the cold can kill a sell in a battery or it might just be too dead for it to be able to be jumped off. I just had this problem about 2 days ago on my uncles car. We tried for hours to jump it off and it just wouldn't do it so we took it to autozone and they did the 35 minute quick charge, we took it back home, popped it in and it fired right up.

^ Agreed with get the battery checked, also check your starter relay that also might be the clicking your hearing.

first check the battery terminals for corrosion, and make sure they are tight, check the connection at the starter. it sounds like a bad connection. if it wont start off of a jump than it is not the battery. i would pull the terminals off and clean them. and check everything in between.if that doesnt work bang on the starter with a hammer.

Make sure you check all the grounds from the block to the firewall and from the starter to the firewall. A bad ground COULD cause this problem too.

well there is no corrosion, but i went out lastnight and it just started up... drove it around to block and turn it off, then tried starting it again but once i turned the key to the start position everything shut off!
I popped the hood and disconnected the negative cable for 30sec and it started again... then ONCE more i turned it off and tried again it nope... so i jacked with the cables and bam... haha im guessing the cable connections arent to good!! :/

Ill just have keep an eye on it and figure it out as i go!

If you jumped it with a running car and it wouldn't start off the other car's battery, you have either a bad connection at the starter motor or a bad starter. Just because it started after jiggling the cables doesn't mean it was the cables. Since the starter solenoid is clicking, my money's on the starter. Hope you got the Autozone starter with the lifetime warranty...

You definately don't want to "bang" on any starter. Just a few good taps. It can loosen up the gear(s) if they are jammed up.

well it is from auto zone... BUT.... i dont have the warrenty!!
Long story! thats one reason why i was hoping it wasnt the starter!!

I thought everything at autozone had at least a 1 year warranty, the "premium" line just uses new parts and has a 2 year warranty.

I thought AZ takes a phone number to reference the warranty by. Not that it matters, I think you just need to clean your battery terminals.
