Hi
I have a 95 Eclipse GSX and its bone stock. This morning I went to I start the car, it crank but will not start. The car was fine before. I never have any problem starting the car before but out of nowhere, it just dont wanna start today. The car is Auto with a remote starter, but even if I disable the remote starter, the car still wont start. What could it be? Could it the ecu? I was messing around with the CD player coulple days ago, and could it be that I hit something around the ECU causing it not to start? Any input will greatly appreciate. thanks in advance.

It crank normal and get slower because it drain the battery, then I use a booster and it will crank normal.

I have seen this same type of problem on a few different vehicles be caused by a defective fuel pump. A friend of mine called me when he drove his car to work, worked for 8 hours and the car did this same thing when he tried to go home. No other warnings of any kind, just wouldn't start after work.

You need 3 things - air, fuel, and spark.

Couple ways you can check for spark. Pull the spark plug boot off the plug slightly and have a friend listen as you crank it over. Should hear a snapping noise from it. Another, easier way to detect spark is to pull the boot off the plug completely and insert the tip of a screwdriver. Set the screwdriver somewhere close to metal but make sure it's not actually touching the metal, just within a 1/2" or so. Crank it over and you will surely hear and see spark at that point if all is well.

One way you can check to see if the fuel pump, or fuel pump relay is working is to remove the gas cap and listen at the gas filler pipe as someone turns the key to run position. You should hear a whirring sound for a couple seconds (can usually hear this without being at the filler cap or removing it for that matter.). That will at least tell you if there is a complete failure of the pump or the control circuitry that operates it.

Both of these tests may check out fine but they are a quick and easy way to start troubleshooting the problem. Let us know what you find. Good luck.

OK, I did what you told me to and I do have sparks but no fuel. I open the gas cap and listen but no noise from it. I also bought a jump start bottle and spray it into the intake manifold and the car starts but after it burn off all that fuel, it shut off. I gotta question before I start buying things. Where is the fuel pump relay, I check both fuse box but cant find it? Is there any other areas where I should take a look at?
