I have a 95 gsx i bought a few months back. The car has been sitting at my house for 5 months as i didnt have much time to mess around with it. The car ran fine besides a small boost leak. About a month ago the car wouldnt start or turn over. I found out the slave cylinder was completely stuck out pushing the fork towards the passenger side. I replaced the slave cylinder only and the fork went back into its origional place in the center. The car still did not start so i unplugged the neutral safety switch. Now it fires up only in neutral but it will not go into gear what so ever. I also bled the slave cylinder like 50 times and nothing.

Id like to state that when the clutch petal is fulled depressed it did not press the safety switch button in. I am not sure if that could be the problem. Id rather fix this on my own rather than a garage but i am still new to this :(

Hmm.. Do you have clutch pressure all the way to the top of the pedal or is there a point twords the top where the pedal is a little sloppy an then you can feel it under your foot after anout an inch or so of pressing it. If so you may wanna check your master cylinder its happened to a couple of my friends now fortunately not myself though. The symptoms were that the car would go into gear when it was off but not when the car was on. Just some food for thought

If it won't shift into gear then the clutch pressure plate is not releasing pressure on the clutch disk when you push down the clutch pedal. If it shifted into gear before you replaced the slave cylinder, then it is either a bleeding issue or a master cylinder issue.

I find it very odd that the slave cylinder was stuck pushing pressure on the clutch fork. There should be a lot of pressure from the pressure plate pushing back on the slave cylinder. Usualy enough pressure to force the fluid back to the master cylinder.

The neutral safety switch has nothing to do with the tranny going into gear.

Inspect your master cylinder for leakage if there is a pedal pressure issue, and readjust the master cylinder rod all the way out -- towards the pedal assembly/away from the firewall, then re-bleed the clutch slave cylinder, and readjust the master cylinder rod toward the firewall until you have the proper pedal disengagement. It sounds like you have the clutch master cylinder rod overextended currently.

agree with the last two post you more than likely have a bleeding issue or your slave cylinder went out (could also be the master cylinder) check the reservoir for fluid if its empty thats problem number one...have a budy pump the clutch with car off after you refilled it and look for leaks around the line and cylinders.

if worse comes to worse its not hard to replace ether one.

If you really don't think the problem is related to how well the system is bled, you could try putting the car in gear and then cranking it, just to see if the clutch is engaging. If its engaging obviously the car will move...

Last time my car wouldn't engage it was because my disc had shattered.

The car is definetely bled very well. My dad helped me bleed it a couple more times. There are no visible leakages. Today we adjusted the clutch pedal out but i believe its to far according to the video because i could not push the pushrod on the slave. I will readjust the clutch pedal back a bit. When we adjusted it, it went into gear but it was really hard. I had to force it into gear for 2nd gear and a couple other gears it wouldnt go into. Then we bled it again and now it wont go into gear. Also if you try to go to reverse its a loud grinding sound.

As for starting in a gear all it does is jerk forward in first gear and back in reverse. It wont start but tries to.

I'm in the same boat with this guy but I think I know what the issue is. I replaced both the slave and master cylinders and bled the crap out of the system and noticed a small leak around the tred where the clutch line and master cylinder connects. I think the tred is stripped and want to replace the line but cant seem to find any. Could someone refer me to a good source?

If you have adjusted the clutch and the ms and ss are not leaking and working properly then I would check the pedal assembly and if thats not it sounds like it is time to pull the trans and see what going on inside the bell housing, Bent fork? bad disk? ect....

Nope still a no go. Replaced master and slave yesterday and bled. I bled it more today, adjusted the master. It goes into gear but i have to force it into gear. The car is completely jacked up off the ground so i got the tires to move freely. When i get a chance ill try and adjust the master a bit more maybe that might help. Also when i have it in gear with the clutch pedal down and start to hit the brakes it completely stalls out.

The reason i unplugged the safety switch was because the car would not even start. The clutch pedal fully depressed wont even touch the trigger

I didn't find any leaks on the old master. Its also got a ss braided clutch line too.

Ok ill check those too when i get the chance again. I also forgot to mention when it gets into a higher gear the car has a constant chirping sound and other noises from the engine but once i put it into first it goes away. Im not sure if thats because its only going like 10-20mph instead of what it usually would in the gears. And at higher rpms it tends to shake a lot. These may not be much but i figure id toss them out in the open just in case

Ok well its starting to shift a bit better. Going up in gear is still rough but down shifting is nice and smooth. Also i noticed the flywheel inspection plate was missing. Im wondering if that may be the culprit since this year has rained way too much and got a ton of moisture in it. So i ordered that plate. haven't checked the clutch yet since things are starting to work itself out im hoping
