so i was on the way home from the gas station, car was running good, then all of a sudden the car just jumped and quit. it still ran i think barely for a few secs but when i gave it gas, nothing happend at all. i was thinking i was going to spin a bearing so maybe thats it? it didnt overheat or nothing. not too long before this happend, my oil psi slowly dropped like it usually does but it hasnt done it in a week or so. so, what happend? the car jumped (vibrated, popped, etc.) Please help.

Is it possible to get a few more closeups of the ECU. The north chip looks like there is gunk on the pins. Possibly fourth pictures of each quadrant? That clicking sounds like its just your ISC motor going out try and unplug it and see if clicking continues.

Our compression tester worked. I forgot there was an extension with it. Anyway, i got 165, 155, 150, 150. Thats good. Remember i couldn't do it when the car was warm either bc it kinda wont run LOL. I have a friend to help check for fuel so whats the easiest way? Im starting to lean towards the fuel being my issue.

Sorry was working on the 2g today.. bad shit.. my turbo took a dump and blew oil into places it shouldnt :( so the 14b is going on tomorrow after IFO. Okay.. I never got an anser about spark. Are you getting spark? Either when you crank it or whenever you turn the CAS by hand. The CAS is located on the passenger rear corner of the valve cover bolted to the side. Its a round metal sensor with a pig tail plugged into it.

I was reading over this whole situation again and I remember you said you smelled something strange but were sure what it was. Also your fans keep coming on. I would assume this is a wiring issue. You most likely have a short somewhere hence the smell would probably be electralysis. Do you have an aftermarket cd player or amplifier wired up? IF so try removing the head unit and see if you notice and peculiar wires melted or anything that doesnt look normal in the wiring in the dash. If the fans are coming on Then the cooling fan relay isnt working properly. Or you have something melted into it causing them to turn on. I would say your problem isnt under the hood but rather under the dash. Go back to square one. Hook up everything you unplugged and check your fuses.

as for the fuel pump question. I posted the pic of the fuel pump connector under the hood near the battery POST 39. That is from a turbo car but it says the wiring is the same as yours. Its basically removing a plastic plug and running a jumper wire from the + on your battery and it should turn on the pump. If you dont have this connector refrer to my earlier pics when we were discussing ECU removal and it shows you how to find the MPI /fuel pump relay and how to jump the fuel pump from there.

Last but not least pleeeeeeeeeease tell me if you have fire. This will rule out alot on my end

the cas clicks.

the CAS as in the sensor on the side of the valve cover head. Passenger side. Snap a pic of what your calling the CAS. If its clicking something is no bueno. I would imagine a bad relay or wiring. Best way to check relays is to unplug them with the key on and then plug them back in if you can feel/hear them click they are working if nothing then they are bad. Also check corresponding fuses.

And why the hell are my fans turning on when i turn the key on?

Just for the hell of it Unplug the coolant temp sensor and see if they go off. Its a single wire connector on your Thermostat housing. If the ECU is getting a bad signal from the sensor it will tell the fans to come on.

This is probably going to end up being one of those no brainers that we all over looked I have a feeling :banghead:

talking about be baby fed.... damn people would be flamed. I understand you have a major problem but if you used the searxh button you would find these answer in .002 sec

It runs. Runs great. My friend came over with his 93 talon. I pulled his CAS off, put it on my talon, put the plugs back in it, and fired her up. I then put my CAS on his talon. his fired up. Put mine back on my talon, fired up again. DOESNT MAKE SENCE. I changed my oil and charged the battery. Oh and made a sheet metal heat shield. I did clean alot of stuff like the plugs, intake, and everything. Might have had a bad ground somewhere?? Im actually more mad that the car runs bc idk what was wrong??

Badabing any chance on the quadrant pictures of the ECU. I know its a pain to take it out but really think its worth a second look. And possible a bottom shot of it.

I havent posted a pic of it. The pic of the ecu above was what a bad one looks like. It wasnt mine. Im using my ps3 to get on dsmtuners right now so i can upload pic with it till my g-ma gets home with her laptop. But isnt this weird? like it died and i couldnt start it so i dissasebled ALOT under the hood, put it back together, and now it runs. My ecu is still on the floor so ill snap a pic and post it up later. What else should i take a pic of?

Because of quality of pictures I cannot be sure but I circled a few places on the ECU how about physically checking these for damages. Make sure none of the solder points are covered by anything and make sure none of them are running together. Pay careful attetion to the big caps in the center and the vertical boards around them to make sure they are making a clean connection. Places circled along the edge really dont have to worry about since they are not on the circutry but if they are bubbles it would be a sign of weather damage.

dont listen to people talkn mess. it happens any good mechanic will tell you that the best way to learn is to ask. Most mechanics have several other techs they contact to ask question in tough situations... as far as your problem its never a good thing when a car "fixes itself" If you in fact didnt do anything besides remove a part and hook it back up it might have been corrosion on the pins of the connector. at any rate glad you got it fixed.

In my opinion it had to be the CAS. I had bought a 96 RS from a lady for 600. She said that after the car warms up it stalls and turns of, so on my way home the car did exactly what yours did, it jumped and started dying and when the gas was applied nothing. After I got it home I did a tune up and everything and when I test drove the car same thing, and I popped the hood I checked everything I could and notice 1 wire from the cam sensor was split. and when the car used to hit a bump it was separating causing the car to stall. I fix that wire and after that the problem stopped.

And from reading you said that after you swapped the CAS it worked fine and then when you put yours it kept working that might have been as they said above result of corrosion. If by anychance it happens again (lets hope not) before you do anything, take out the plug from the CAS and clean it and put it back on and try the car again. good luck

The ECU is fine. I carefully ispected it looking for ANYTHING out of the ordinary. I cant remember anything on the CAS plug but its possible just unplugging it and plugging it cleaned it. But my oil psi gauge doesnt work at all now. Does the oil psi sending unit have a small wire on it, shaped like a small fuel filter, below the oil filter, and can leak? Ill snap pics of it. Also, behind the crank pulley, it looks like the case got hit by a rock. Theres oil on it so how severe is this? like i said ill get pics.
