My car was running fine earlier today, and as I pulled into my buddies driveway, it suddenly just died. So I tried starting it again.... it turns over fine but doesnt start, it seems like its getting enough power from the battery so I dont think thats it... I let it sit for a couple hours, but same thing when I got back to it... Could it be the alternator, ignition coil, or Im not even sure, please help.. Thanks

pretty new means nothing, i'd pull the upper cover off and see if its loose. did you replace the tensioner when you did the belt?

Did it throw any codes?

Check if you have fuel, spark and compression.

Yup.

Look at the belt as r1991 suggested. Next pull a plug and ground it while cranking to check for spark. Those are the easiest tests to start with.

Ya I would like to, but Im not as mechanically inclined as most of you on this site, which I wish I was..... and I am working a 9 day stretch starting yesterday actually so I wouldnt have tons of time to work on it, mind you if I knew what I was doing I would work on it till the wee hours of the morning anyways just to get it done....

Check the battery, i was driving to pick apart couple weekends ago and the battery died on me, thought it was the alternator cause the battery was new, turns out the battery had somehow developed a dead cell and kill the car. I was shocked!

ya I dont think its the battery because when I turn the key to acc all the lights come on fine and everything works A.OK and it turns over just as well as if it was actually going to start... It just never starts tho. :| Im guessing maybe something like fuel pump or something to do with the ignition rotor, or something electrical maybe... The spark plugs/wires are only 1 summer old and the timing belt and all the extra jazz to go with it are 2 summers old....

supposively it is the CAS (cam angle sensor) or engine cranksensor........ I read up on exactly what it does and it sounds like if it doesnt work proper or is broken, the engine will not run....

Now I was looking at pricing, its around $68 @ extreme psi. I COULD try napa tomorrow to see if they have one, but I figure its best to stick with OEM and not get a napa brand or equivelent.

He told me it is on the side with the timing belt, etc. So he will have to get in there and take them off in order to change it. Im not exactly sure where it is... Is the Camshaft position sensor on the opposite side because I have been looking it up and some sites are saying the camshaft sensor is sometimes called the crank sensor, etc, etc.. Yet extreme psi has 2 different items for each... Camshaft being $54 and crank being $68...

Ok so I did some reading and found it is CPS..... not CAS..... and It is located on the driver side on the crankshaft sprocket..... And I need to remove the accesory belts, LF wheel, LF inner splash shield, lower timing belt cover, and harmonic balancer.. Then rotate teh crankshaft sprocket clockwise until the blade is outta the way.. Then unbolt/uplug/remove/replace....

Correct me if im wrong please!!!!!!

Also I know OEM rules all for all the little type of parts for our cars, So I think I should just be without my Spyder for the long weekend and wait till the part comes Tuesday and get it done then... Unfortunatley.... Extreme psi does have upgraded shipping, but tomorrow is Fri. and Even next day air wouldnt get it to me till the next business day right? Which is Tues.. :/ So Thats the only bummer part....

I dropped my car off that night I posted this and havent seen my car since so I havent been able to look....Im phoning him tomorrow morning at work when im on break..And I can ask him to take the top cover off to look.... But he said it threw the code for CPS malfunction... That is why Im leaning towards that...

What do you guys think about OEM vs. a brand from NAPA for the CPS??
