medicine hat,
When i start off, say from a stop sign, my car will feel as if its missing a bit and the car seams to studder...though when my RPM's are above 2000-2500rpm in any gear the problem isnt there anymore..... i thought that it might have been my spark plug wires but i replaced those..and its doing it still. Could this have anything to do with my car having a 75 amp Alternator instead of its original 90 amp one??? if anyone has any ideas what my problem could be...it would be appreciated...cause it seams to be progressively getting worse each day.

Mine has sort of the same issue.....at idle the RPMs will sometime bounce down to like 400 then back to 900. then it will go back to normal. Also when I am driving at low RPM the car will start to buck. It is getting annoying, but have yet to find the problem

I would just go over all the basic stuff....plugs(ngk), wires, fuel filter, coil. My car is doing the same thing, i checked everything and it still did it. I finally figured out what it was. I did the silencer mod from the MAF sensor. Thing is, I removed the wrong one. DOH! :p

i replaced the plugs max...about 6 months ago...i havent yet replaced the fuel filter i've had the car fer over 3 years...is it difficult?? how bout the coil??

*TalonR* same issues as what im having....so if u find it lemme know...i'll do the same fer u.

i have this problem as well, but mine seems to happen more when the car is warm. if i just start the car it is fine for at least 15 mins while idling, then it starts stuttering and sometimes stalls.

Well I did the plugs, wires, fuel filter...and Im am at the point of testing the ICS...just need to grab a multimeter from work....after that Im in the dark....anyone have anymore suggestions....this bucking is driving me insane

*nasty nas* yeah mine only does it too when it is warm...it seems to drive fine while its cold
I own a 90 gs and it would (still does) jump around under 1000rpm it is insane i thought it might be a vacume leak so i looked around and on my Evap emiss canister the middle plug was missing so i replugged it and it started to idle at 1500rpm i quickly adjusted it to get it down to 750 - 900 it was fine

seems like a lot of us have this problem...i have a 1g talon tsi...and it stutters and bucks like crazy in low rpms..i replaced my MAS and it helped a little bit, but i still have the problem...SOMEONE PLEASE KNOW/TELL HOW TO FIX!

As of right now i am having the same problem. Me and a friend have been working on it i i have found out that if you take the air intake tube off of your mas then it will run fine but untill you get around 2k rpms then it starts to stutter again and then it dies. Anyone know any other ideas i can try?

It sounds to me that your engine isn't getting the amount of air you're maf is reading. This either being an intake/vacuum leak, bad maf, or something wrong with your fuel system like filter, injectors, pump. Also check to make sure the plug at the back of your intake mani is totally pluged in. I don't know the name of it but its a wide plug thats right under the throttle on the mani(this is for the 2.0 guys)

i got the same problem....when i punch it from say 2500 it stutters and jumps, sometimes it just will boost but not pull at all. I am almost positive its the fuel filter, but the bolts are stripped on it so im waiting on a tool...but once i change it if it fixes ill let you know. i have all new plugs and wires, good compression, no vac leaks, so im praying its the fuel filter.

i was removing the fuel filter today and the stupid bolt is badly stripped....anyone have any ideas on how to get it out..its the bottom bolt.

My bet is the fuel filter... my N/T started acting up retarded like that but it wasn't only at low RPM's, it was all the time, and I was thinking some internal part had failed. We changed the fuel filter and it hasn't acted up since then. Just go out, spend the $20 and see what happens.

edit: Just saw one post that had already replaced fuel filter, but did not list O2 sensor, I'd try that next.

i have this same problem... but i have been told it was due to the aircan and honeycomb mods. This may be true, b/c the 1.8l hasn't had the honeycomb mod and doesn't stutter

So....anyone have a how-to for the fuel filter replacement?

1. Remove gas cap to relieve pressure.
2. Remove bolt on top of fuel filter and, if you want, move the hose out of the way by pinning it behind something. Make sure you note where washers are located.
3. Remove bolt from bottom of fuel filter and do the same with this hose as the previous.
4. Either remove fuel filter from holder or remove the whole holder*
*If you remove the whole holder you obviously still have to remove the filter, but it might be easier for you to remove the whole holder.
5. Place new filter in holder, and if necessary holder back in engine bay. Make sure you have the "U" shaped holder for the top hose on top and closer to the front of the car than the back.
6. Connect back the hoses and be sure you make sure your washers are where they are supposed to be.

Fairly simple procedure. Takes about 15 minutes if you've got everything you need with you.

yea except if you are like me and all the bolts are rusted and strip....grrrr, im going to a shop today just to make them deal with replacing it.
