Car stutters when accelerating

Sometimes when I'm accelerating between 2500RPM-3000RPM, the car feels like it hit a wall or something, and it just doesn't accelerate how it should. Its hard to explain, but it feels like I'm going up really steep hill. I can really feel it when I'm in 3rd gear, and I can only when I'm daily driving.

I thought it was my plugs and wires so I changed them, but it still happens. I thought it was fuel cut or something, so I increased fuel between 2500RPM-3000RPM. Seems it works for a while, but it comes back. Any suggestions of what might be happening? Thanks in advance!

Mine use to stutter when accelerating through 2nd and third gear too. But not as bad as fuel cut. I thought it was the spark plugs or spark wires. But all it was, was the vacuum line that connected to the right side of the fuel rail. (I don't know the proper term) It had fallen off. I reconnected it and it ran normal again. Hope that helps.

My car had that problem, or something in the same area. It depends really on whats happening you gota give more information. My problem was the sparks and wires... I changed them and it went away. Under load (when the turbo would spool past 25% of use...) in second and third it would do it, it will only get worse once the car gets warmer, right? If so then that might be your problem. I've heard that our cars are very picky when it comes to sparkin' the fuel. Anyways - it wasn't as strong as a fuel cut, but it was a sputter, and a stock 95 dodge neon (auto)... was almost keeping up with me from 3rd WOT... anyways... I've been past this problem and seen it posted afew times. Check sparkers and wires VERY carefully... make sure they are gap'd correctly... reintall... thats the only bit of information I can off to you.

Yea, that description sounds kinda like whats happening to my car. I changed my plugs and wires not more than a month a ago. I used some BPR7ES and gapped them to .030. I'll check them tomorrow though and let you know whats up.

I think i also checked that vacume line. If you meant the right side as in when you standing in the front of the engine, and that vacume line thats connected to something that is silver colored, then yes, it was on.

sounds like a vacuum/boost leak

do you have any idle problems at all??

No, my idle is pretty steady at around 850rpm. I only stall out if I rev it up alot when out of gear, and thats because my bov is venting to atmosphere. It wasn't my decision to do that though, it was already like that when I bought it and i don't think its causing any real bad problems to where i need to convert it back to recirculating.

hmm...how is your gas mileage? is your O2 sensor cycling properly? Also...how long does it take for the car to warm up?

Well, I never tried to check my gas mileage before, but I guess I can try. Also, I'm not sure about O2 sensor. What do you mean by cycling? And about my car warming up, in the spring weather, i think it usually takes less than 5 min to warm up. And thanks for helping me troubleshoot the problem!

O2 cycling is that you O2 Voltage goes up and down (crosscounts) while you cruise the car...this just varifies it is working properly

It should crosscount from .8v-.2v or so those would probably be max and mins...and its should do it fairly rapidly.

less than 5mins...well...thats not bad I guess...

Im sure your Engine Coolant temp sensor is fine...O2 we haven't figured out yet

ohh and you could even check your O2 sensor with an ohm/voltage meter while your car is idling. just stick something needle like size into where the wires go in the harness...and connect the meter to those neeldes

ya...but do the needle thing into the harness...it would be much easier...the harness is located sorta by the thermostat, like where the radiator cap is and stuff...but lower...

just follow the wire back and you'll see it...
