I have a 97 gsx with a 6 bolt swap. Occassionally under hard braking the car dies. Im at a total loss here. I thought I would also mention that the brakes vibrate alot (need new rotors and pads all around). Could this be the problem? Any input would be highly appreciated. Cheers

You do need new brake pads and rotors. The stalling in my case during hard braking was cause by a alternatior that had completely failed all test. Does you car go to low rpm the dies or just completely die?

Its only happened a few times. It occurs when Im in neutral and hard brake, the rpms drop and the car dies. However, the car does have a new alternator

Try taking the postive and negative off and puting them togerther for about two min. and so it grounds out. then putting them back on that worked for me as well.

1 quick thing to check is the battery. make sure its not sliding back and forth. i had a problem that when i used to brake hard the battery would move forward and the connectors touched the strut tower bar, which stalled the car.

oooOMG

be careful if this ever happens to you. A dsmer lost a car when his did this and caught on fire.

Thanks everyone for the help. I spoke to a dsm junky on the weekend and he gave it a look. I recently purchased the car and the previous owner had a vented greddy bov installed. He told me under hard braking the engine is flooding and causing it to stall. Does this sound right? Cheers

Sounds like you just need the GM maft kit ( or mas/ maf? i dont know the difference between them all ) that way you can save "Pshhh!!" sound that we all love and you won't run rich when shifting or at idle. Put the sensor somewhere between your BOV and your throttle body. Not between your BOV and intake,,,, you'll be sittin pretty after that,, good luck.

I had the same problem with mine. Turned out to be a bad ground as well as a set up issue. Took it to my work and the head tech cleaned and checked my grounds. Worked fine for two or three drives and then happened again. The tech the reset the idle and it's
never reared it's ugly head again. I'm thinking the same is happening with your car due to the 6 bolt swap. Best guess I got.
