so i press the gas and the turbo spools, everything is normal. But when i let off the gas and then press it again a cloud of white smoke comes out, and everyone behind me hates me LOL.

It seems to be running rich ( i think), and i dont have an idea on what to do.

please help

Garrett

Recent mods was a dumptube, but didn't do it when i ran it, and then out of the blue it seems that this started happening.

logger is on the way.
Turbo is t25 with 72xxx miles.
have 14b in my room, not installed yet.
No smoking during idleing, only after i press the pedal again after boosting it

oil is looks good, doesnt look like any cracked coolant lines to the turbo. Will be doing a compression test later today.

thanks garrett

The coolant lines for the turbo may not be bad, but the seals in the turbo itself may be dead. What boost have been running and for how long?

check turbo shaft play. but it definitely sounds like blown turbo

There ya go, an easier test than a compression test that will really tell you if it is that turbo or not.

Keep in mind that all turbos have shaft play, but you will know if it is bad enough for the seals to have blown. If it moves a ton it is bad, if it moves only a little then it is probably okay.

Good advice, numlock666

Justo clarify this statement about shaft play, a little bit of side to side movement is ok but any in out movement is bad.

there is not shaft play. turbo has only been boosted to 13. compression test came out to 125 across the board

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but 125psi is bad! especially for a 2nd gen.
Your going to need a new headgasket, and while your at it throw in some ARP studs. Plus to further your peace of mind-pop out the pistons, hone the cylinders, throw on some new rings and break her in.

To verify if your rings are bad, throw in a cap full of oil into the cylinder, wait 15 secs and test it, if its considerably higher you have bad rings.

ok heres the update, redid the compression test the right way and after warmed up and came up with 160 across the board. Now it doesnt only smoke when you hit the accelerator after boost, but also if you hit the brakes after coming off of any boost passed 0.

The only way I know to see if it's the oil seals is to pull the intake or exhast manifold and look into the ports, if it is the seals it's very apparent when you look in the ports you'll see it right away.

Go to a shop, have them do a CLT test, NOT a compression test. A Cylinder Leak-Down Test This where help pinpoint where your loosing compression.
Pretty much they charge each cylinder at TDC with pressure and record how much pressure is leaking and how fast. Listening at the oil cap, Exhaust, and TB will tell you whats bad.
Oil cap- Bad rings
Exhaust pipe- Bad Exh. Vavle
Throttle body- Bad Intake Vavle
Although it could just be the vavle seats and not the actual valve itself but both do tend to wear on each other since their being smacked together all the time. Just depends how much you beat on your car i guess.
