Car shorts out while cranking

when i turn the key the car will crank and when the rpms are high enough (around 500-1000)for the car to run on its own the car just shorts out. its like when the power goes out in your house and a 1/2 second later the power comes back.all the lights go out and ecu connection is sumtimes lost,then the car continues to crank and stumble.stat sync goes on so it shouldnt be the cas.

anyone else ever experience this?

battery,starter is good
cables cleaned

any thoughts?
alternator,tps,coolant sensors,bad ground?

Battery held down securely? Loose ground cable?

battery is held tight
cleaned and checked all ground cables
what else would cause this problem

Sounds like a loose wire somewhere. Even though you say they are all good.

Only thing i can think of is a loose ground. But you already checked. No idea

i guess ill go through the process of elimination
and check again, maybe theres a break in the wires
anything else besides a bad ground

is it possible that the starter could not be disengaging properly?
i pulled it today and noticed the bottom of it (below the starter gear) looks like it was grinding against the flexplate.

does your tach jump around when u crank it up?

If you want to know for sure if its a round problem take a dvom and one lead to battery gground and te other to block if you get a voltage reading more than .5 volts then its a ground problemif no voltage is found do same test at ecu ground

after cleaning the starter i put it back in and the car doesnt short out anymore, it just constantly stumbles. i put bpr6's,stock coils back in and it still stumbles. i tried playing with the throttle while cranking but still nothing
grounds check out ok.
maybe its time for a retune?

is it possible that the starter could prevent the car from starting(the gear is jammed)?

i got the starter tested and it passed so im not sure what to do other than buy a new one.

Sounds like it could be the ECM. Cars act screwy when they go out.

Same symptoms, as ECM with leaking caps. Check the ECM.
