Recently purchased this car its a 93gsx it acts funny when its warmed up all the way and driven a little bit or hot outside. The car will start to smell like sulfer and a mix of rotten egg then it will cut out slowly and progress to so much stuttering that from a dead stop its almost impossible to get up to speed it almost feels like a misfire but im pretty sure its more than that. At night I can atleast drive it down the road but during the day when its hot out it stutters so bad i cant, itll also start idling bad the rpms will drop to like 500 and fluctuate to 800 like it wants to cut off, before anyone says wires or plugs or battery its already been replaced and I doubt a coil would make a sulfure smell.

I put a 160 degree thermostat in it today and flushed the coolant and the needle still goes above the half way point. I checked both hoses and both feel hot so I think the water pump is circulating good. I think its the radiator core maybe being clogged so I am going to run a aluminum radiator. I have to run a half size radiator because im gonna run the stm forward racing turbo kit in the future does anybody know of a good place to get a small radiator to fit the turbo kit.

You'll run hotter with a halfsize radiator if you plan on dd'ing the car.

Rotten egg smell is also what you get with leaking caps in the ECU (although usually you have to open it up to smell it). You might want to take a look inside it.

this would not be from the ECU..... im a computer technician.... blown caps the only way you would know is if your electronics are ####ed up.. and if you look... you wont smell anything.... when the caps leak.. its just electrolytes..

Yes, the way to test the head gasket without taking the head off is called a combustion leak test. It is a kit that chemically tests your coolant for the presents of fumes that have leaked out of the head/block interface. I can sell you mine on the cheap if you want. Scotty Kilmer has a good vid on it. If coolant in the radiator is low but the overflow is high sounds like a leaking head gasket causing pressure in the radiator

I had the same idle surge issue 2Gs are notorious for this.
1. Boost test. – I had a leaking BOV.
2. Check IAC.

I released some air from the coolant system. Now the car runs on the half way mark all the time and occasionally goes alittle over that so the cooling issue seems to be fine now. I am not sure what the reving problem is once I find out ill let you guys know. I dont have the funds right now from fixing everything that I have had to fix, I know forsure the alternator is bad so I plan to replace the alternator and belt next. Im thinkin somethings wrong with the fuel system like a clogged injector or something some days ill get on it and pull a 11.0-12.0 afr and others itll hit 11.0 then shoot to 15.0 and stutter real bad. I also wanna switch to dsm link but dont know what mods the guy before me has done to the car so thats something I have got to figure out. I am unsure of injector size and maf translater I was told it prob was a gm translater, but the salesman could be wrong.
