Ok so i just finished with my 6 bolt swap. Took the car for a little drive and I noticed that whenever I downshift come up to a stop/yield and then let the clutch out the car shakes and vibrates. It seems like the clutch is grabbing really hard. It only vibrates until the clutch pedal is fully let out or until I give it some gas. I can avoid the issue by slipping the clutch a little. But this is something I want to figure out. When I installed the clutch I did use an alignment tool, and checked to make sure it was right. The tranny slid in with no prolems either.
Any help or advice would be great.

The clutch is Act 2600 with Street lite disc and Fidanza aluminum flywheel

Check your motor mounts.

I just put new prothane motor mounts in. Would this cause me to be feeling this.
I know it should add some vibration, but I'm sure this is a little excessive.

When I put in my stiffer motor mounts the more vibration was only noticed at idle so I don't think its that. Go out and check to make sure you remembered to tighten them all down, including the bolt that goes through the center of them.

i have prothane mounts in myself. i don't know how bad yours is but my vibration isnt much. Or at least, i have gotten used to it i guess. i know if i am at a stop and i have the clutch in i can see my hood vibrate like it wants to open up from the windshield. But driving, isn't bad at all.

That could just be chatter from the clutch breaking in.

When i put my 6 puck in, it wanted to grab and I would have to slip it in alittle or get off the clutch as soon as possible. It went away after a couple days

Mine was also with a brand new findanza flywheel and 2600PP

Maybe the 6 puck is a bit different but after I installed my ACT flywheel & 2600/street disc setup there was no shaking, it felt really smooth actually.

If its not the motor mounts being loose I'd suspect that something didn't get tightened down doing the tranny install. You torqued the flywheel & pressure plate bolts to spec I hope.

yeah, i have the same chatter when i let out the clutch its like very quick clunking in the front like my motor is moving...my motor mounts are new and tightened, everythings toqqued and installed correctly.

I assimilated this to being Lightweight flywheel/new clutch disk chatter...

After 400 miles, mine hasnt gone away yet though.

I had another problem that made some funky noises, my lower motor mount was good, but where that crossmember bolts up front had rusted away.

check these pics out..

Alright I made sure the mounts were tight. They are.
As for torque specs. Yes I did torque everything down to the specified amount.
One thing that I do think might be causing it is that my clutch pedal is out of adjustment. It is very hard to get in gear since the rebuild. Maybe this could be a problem? Or maybe it was the Penzoil Syncromesh I put in it?

Just My Luck

My clutch is toast! Gone. I was driving it down the highway today and heard weird scraping noises. I go to pull over and clutch pedal pressure is barely there. Won't go in gear. Pop the hood and I can smell burnt clutch.
I'm gonna pull the tranny this weekend. But I need some opinions on what disc to buy next. I have heard a lot bad about ACT, and this clutch I have now is ACT. Should I buy another ACT or something else?
And also should I buy a street disc or 6 puck? My goals are 350-400whp.

Wait, did you just burn a brand new clutch up?? Or was it a used clutch?

My pedal is set to just let me get into gear when im on the floor, then i pull back about an inch, and im fully engaged.

If im idleing at 600 and start letting out slowly, i hear a quick clunking like somethings shaking, i had a friend look at my engine whilst doing this, nothing moved??

Its weird, I installed my flywheel using Red loctite, then the disk, then the ACT 2600PP, the PP bolts already had lock washers so i didnt use any loctite on those bolts..The 15FT pound bolts..There isnt really any torque from he motor on those though.

Wow. My ACT 2600/Street disc/flywheel setup has been put through some shit and it still holds during WOT pulls. I'm right around 400 to the wheels now too, no funny noises or anything coming from the clutch either.

Sorry to hear that yours went, if you bought it new I'd try to get ACT to send a free replacement if you can prove it was a defect.

Nope. It was a used Act 2600 I put back in. The only thing I changed was going from a ACt streetlite flywheel to the fidanza aluminum flywheel. I torqued everything down. Lined everything up. Not sure what happened.
I was reading about if your missing one of the dowel alignment pins that this could throw your tranny off just a little, but enough to cause harm. And thinking back now, Im not sure if the rear pin was there when putting the tranny in. Oh well, I'm pulling the trans tonight to find out all the damage.
At least its just pulling the tranny and not the whole damn motor again.

Sounds a lot like when my 2900 loosened up while I was driving. It wouldn't disengauge pedal was mush.

I have a fidanza flywheel. Did you loctite the pressureplate to flywheel bolts?

I bought Forced Performances Aluminum Flywheel kit and put an ACT 3200 Custom with 4 Puck unsprung in, I love it and its in my DD too.

LOL for an AWD guy you might as well... You have to take the exhaust and tcase off... But I did mine by myself in 12 hours. I did have help for a few minutes to line the tranny back up when putting it on.
