So I bougt a 90 laser a few months ago.. doesn't run right at all won't go anything over 3000 rpms.. but when I take the maf off it runs beter but still blows black smoke but still doesn't run like perfect... running way rich... and iv had it at a shop for a months and a half and they were way to damn lazy to try and fix it so I got the car back... and all the mec could say is that it was a sencer...... and iv done a boost leak test already.... any ideas??? Thx guys!

Head out to a yard and grab another MAF from a busted up DSM for you need it badly to control your A/F mixture.

(and please, learn how to, capitalize and use punctuation for us to understand you better....read the rules please ..)

Just had this problem check the serial number on the ecu and make sure it is a 1990 ecu.

Ya I used a diffrent maf and did the same thing....I will try and check the ecu and see if its diffrent

Good idea on that ecu man... I look at it and its from a damn wrecking yard... I gottatake it off and get the serial number

when my car did this, I bought another MAF, and replaced it and look what happened....

what ended up being my problem was, I needed a new o2 sensor.
then again the only reason I was able to cancel out the bad ecu possibility was because I sent it to ecmlink and had them service it a couple months before.

so either troubled ECU or bad O2 sensore is my bet.
