My car runs beter when ....

I just got done doing my clutch install, and i forgot to hook up the blow off valve, well before this the car was dying and wouldnt idol, now for some reason with the BOV vacuum hose not connected the car idols fine but when i put my finger over the hose the car dies, or if i put the hose back on the bov it dies, can anyone help me figure out why this is

be very careful leaving your blow off valve hose open to the air. it is taking in air the ecu cannot see. if your car was running fine, it could make it run so lean, it could blow your engine in moments. it sounds like your car is running really rich at idle. do you have a way to check your air/fuel ratio ? you definitely need to keep that hose plugged on the intake side. i cannot stress how important it is ! sorry im not too much help, but your post scared me. dont wanna see another dsm get blown up . good luck !

Let's start over. It's the vacuum line that operates the BOV, not the recirculation hose, right?

So your motor's running god-awful rich at idle. Which needs to be fixed. And it sounds like more than you're ready to tackle. Shop time. The $200 will wind up being a bargain.

Ended up being low compression across 3 of the 4 cylinders, I had bad valves and rings
