Car not boosting properly, any advice?

Somewhat new to the DSM world but anyhow, I have a '91 GS turbo, bone stock. Car starts right up and warms up fine. When trying to build boost, the guage zeros out and the car cuts out and sputters until you back of the throttle. While driving it, it will then suddenly build boost fine, run about 10# and run good. Then the next instance it will act up again. Last time I drove it, it boosted great and while I was on it, it totally cut out and died on me. Will not start. Just need someone to point me in the right direction

Start by looking for some boost leaks

Ya sounds like a boost leak, also check your manifold and hotside for cracks.

I went through and tightened all the clamps and checked hoses for cracks and all seems good. Looked intercooler over and it is in good shape as far as dents and bent fins it has none. When the car ran, it ran good and I saw right between 7 and 14 on stock boost guage. It just totally died on me and will not start now. Not sure where to begin.

Check and tighten the connections on your battery, grounds, and alternator. Sand down the grounds if you have too.

its got good juice and terminals are cleaned up and still no luck. just cranks over like no spark or no fuel. probably my fuel pump or coil pack just crapped out. i'll have to test them and see

The pipes might ''seem'' okay but you can still have a boost leak somewhere build a Boost leak tester and test it.

^^^Go here click intake and then find the intake leak tester.That should help you if you dont know how to make one.

Yep make a boost leak teser anyway bc even when you think you have none you will find a pin hole in one of the stock hoses. Then yea go forward and check to see if you are getting fuel, spark, etc. Then get back to us.

yeah but a simple boost leak would cause the car not to start? i dont understand how it would be boosting fine then just die if it had a boost leak. the car just wont start just turns over and over

A boost leak probably wont cause a no start but it will cause the car to idle like crap and missfire all over the place. But yea spray some starter fluid in the upper intercooler pipe and see if it starts up if it does that means your not getting any fuel.

I blew a coupler a few times and my car died instantly and wouldnt start back up.Or it would start for about a second idle like shit and die.So maybe if you split a pipe or coupler you are overlooking it would give you problems?
